Turkeygirl
My bow isn't even a year old and i'm already tweaking it. Is this normal? So I went to a new bow shop yesterday, they were very helpful and nice and said just bring my bow in and they'd help get it set-up again since the cams need to be timed, I want to put a string loop on, and i'm going to order new strings and cables. I'm getting the strings/cables from bucknasty on AT. Heard alot of good stuff about them and I can afford them I'm thinking of going with black and blue colors Sticking with a peep with tubing though since I just ordered some silicone tubing from cabelas and i like the reliability of the tubing. Will post a photo on here when it is call set up. Oh yeah and i'm switching to 100 grain tips so I pretty much have to totally resight everything, minus the arrow rest hopefully. Squirrelhunter91
Re: Basically starting from scratch Ruth, When you have a string loop put on, have them put the knotless loop on. It's guaranteed to never break and after 100 shots or so, it basically becomes part of your string. http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/...p&noImage=
Turkeygirl
Re: Basically starting from scratch Hey squirrel hunter, should I just get one and take it with me to have them put it on or wait and ask them if they have one? I'm going to end up ordering a new peep sight anyway because they didn't have one I was looking at
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Basically starting from scratch Well.. price it out. If you order it yourself, you have to pay for the product plus shipping, then labor to put it on. But if they carry it at the shop, you buy it there, save on shipping, but have tax and still pay labor. The difference really is the people at the proshop IMO. Usually if you buy something at the shop and have them install it as well, they usually give a nice little discount. I would give them a call and see if they carry it. If they don't then order it if you want it. It's a good loop and I highly reccomend it.

Guest tuffy3
Re: Basically starting from scratch There is no problem with tweaking your bow, just as long as it is done right. I know when I needed to change my string the first time. Some told me that you might lose some speed. Don't worry about that, I tested my bow afterwards and it shot the same. Anyway, I did some searching for strings on line and talked with other shooters. Winners Choice I think is one of the best, but exspensive. Check out pro strings archery they have good prices, and you can see there colors too. Just shop around and see what's best for you and your wallet. One thing I learned about bow hunting, is accessories are exspensive. But I love bow hunting so much, I don't care what it cost. But you can find some good deals you just have too look. Also waxing your strings will help with your strings lasting longer too. During the off season I tend to wax my strings probably once or twice a month during the off season. Ensure while it's in your case you look it over, during the off season. Get a string that is good quality and will last, because you don't want to hurt yourself. Well take care I hope I helped a little.
hutchies
Re: Basically starting from scratch Trying new things just means your archery addiction is getting stronger. I change things every year. Righ now I am waiting on Pin nocks and mini blazers to come in. Hopefully they arrive today.
Tony
Re: Basically starting from scratch Ruth. first off great string choice.. Bucknastys strings are just as good as Winners Choice. also a string of top quality like your getting will not make you have to have a tube to your peep. once a d loop is put on, it can be turned so that it will help the peep rotate perfect each time. but if you choose to use a tube type peep, thats ok. just keep up on the maintanance on the tubing. i havent used a tube type peep for 5 years now. i have to disagree with that Knotless loop on your string. a d loop installed by your shop will only cost you 3 to 5 bucks and it will be made to your exact length. the knotless loop is not adjustable in length at all. if a D loop is done right will last just as long. this is critical in getting your specific anchor point down pat. if the loop is too long or to short it will effect accuracy. eventually you will learn how to tie your own on. it easy and d loop material is like a buck for 3 feet. all it takes is a little practice after watching the guys at your shop do it. you have a great bow, putting better strings on it will make it even better. now concentrate on shooting form, shot execution and some practice and have fun. And listen to Tony, he is offering some great advice, anytime I see him post advice, I absorb it like a sponge! Good luck tweaking your bow, that is the fun part of archery, trying new things!
