maddhunter
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... Both eyes wide open. My cousin who was in the ARMY (sharpshooter) taught me to use both eyes while shooting everything even while using a scope until target is aquired. Leo
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... [ QUOTE ] One eye open. Left eye dominant and shoot right handed. [/ QUOTE ] Important point. If you're cross dominant both eyes open will really mess you up. As a result of an injury 4years ago I have "shifting" eye dominance. That means sometimes the left eye is dominant and sometimes the right eye is. If I'm shooting with both eyes open. I can always tell when the shift occurs because my arrows will start to group at a different POI. This is a technique I discovered that really helps me. I've found I can force right eye dominance if I keep the left eye closed and open it only right before I shoot. IMO, most folks who have trouble shooting both eyes open are usually either cross dominant or have a mild shifting problem like mine. The dominance forcing technique works for me, maybe it will help others.

Tony
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... right now im shooting like i always have with one eye open. but im working on learning to shoot with both open. it seems to relax me a little more at full draw if i have both eyes open. also it seems that i can see target clearer. Shoot Strong Tony

GWSmith
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... Both Open Right Eye Dominant, Right Handed Shooter. I only shut my Left eye temporarily to double check that my peep sight is lined up correctly with my sight housing using my Right eye just before shooting. With both eyes open I can have a better chance of seeing obstacles such as limbs, both near and farther away, that could keep me from making the best shot choice. I can better gauge/geuss the direction of travel of a deer than with just looking through the peep sight with one eye open. It took me a little over 3 weeks to get used to shooting with both eyes open. Shooting at only one small dot on a plain white target paper my sight pin would cover the dot..it forced me to learn to use both eyes. Now when I even try to shoot with just one eye open it feels like I'm not getting enough information to geuss yardage. Yeah it's not that important if your shooting the same distance over and over all the time...but anything in the woods seems not to want to hang out @ 20yds all day long for some reason

Bowtech_archer07
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... I have shot both ways, and can shoot accurately both ways, but 95% of the time I shoot with one eye closed.
Guest skinner2
Re: When Shooting Your Bow... I shoot with one i closed as I am right handed but left eye dominant although I can shoot left handed as well . I was told a number of years ago that I should switch to a lefty being left eye dominant but switched back to a Rh to be able to find equipment better. Most places don't seem to stock much for leftys
