TCFORLIFE
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? The 10/22 isn't the most accurate gun out the box, but there is plenty of aftermarket parts for it. Lot of nice upgrades. Are you looking to mod. or just buy and shoot?
LETMGROW
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? You know, it is a shame you can buy a rifle and have to add aftermarket options to make it acceptable. My Rem. 597, Marlin 60, Rem 66. Rem 552, Mossberg 35 all out shoot my 10/22. Out of the box? Not one of the rifles I listed cost as much as my 10/22! PS, all the others are out of the box as well!! woodshed
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? I'm only interested in plinking and squirrell hunting. Too Pointer--- I liked the 597's feel and the sights. without ever shooting any of these rifles, I was hesitant to buy the remington. I've heard way too much about the jamming. If it's true or not, I don't hear about any reliability probs. with the 10/22. It's reputation was a hands down easy decision. I don't want to or plan on doing modifications. Someday I guess it's possible though. I shot this gun the other day and thought it was great. It was accurate and felt good. I just wish it fit like the "10/22 rifle" or 597. I think I can get over the slightly short feel. At my shop the 10/22 rifle is an additional 40 bucks. I already spent 40 more than the 597 to get this one so I guess it's not worth the rest to me. I got this for 169 NIB so I think it's a good deal still.

MagnoliaHunter
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? My 10/22 shoots great. I can hit the top of a coke can at 100 yards and hit a 12 inch steel plate at 200. IF THE WIND IS PERFECTLY STILL. I have the model with the stainless 22 inch barrel. I don't know if I just got lucky and got a great gun or if all guns of the model I got shoot this good.

I have several 22's and it is always the first one I reach for.
brad dryden
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? We have one stainless and blued barrel and shot ASWSOME right out of the box. I have nothing to say bad about them.
woodshed
Re: ruger 10/22 ?? well, I bought this gun new last week. I've been out to shoot it once and LOVED it. It was a great shooter. Interestingly though, A guy just bought it off of me for 200.00!! 20 more than I payed WITH tax. I can't believe it. I'm just going to go buy another one. I love it and will always have one in my cabinet. Now I have to decide which one again,,,
