Guest andymansavage
Here is one of the spots that I hunt in northern utah. No roads in all of the area pictured, no horses allowed (watershed). Needless to say, lots of big bucks. On the day I filmed this in october, we saw some hunters with a 30" wide 7x8 non-typ on the ground. lots of 20"-24" wide 4pts in here. Over the counter tag for non-residents.................. Guest Finn
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads That is great looking country to hunt. What do non resident tags cost? Is that all public land? thanks!
Guest andymansavage
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads Thanks for looking. yes it is all public land. Utah has one of the highest amount of public acres in the US. Horses are not allowed because this is a watershed area- all of the canyons drain into lakes used for public drinking water. If you down an animal, you could get permission to use horses to get it out if you catch them on a good day. This area is part of the northern general unit for deer and tags can be had over the counter for $263 non-res. Forum trip??? I will be hunting southern Utah this year in more open, desert type terrain, but I will be taking my little bro up here the second week of the season. coles
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads looks like it would be fun to drag a deer out of if you shot a big bodied buck! much less an elk. horses would almost be a must unless you have strong legs. Guest andymansavage
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads Drag? Deer come out of here in little pieces. I'm not crazy enough to try and drag a big old buck out. You have to go up as much as down. Andy

_MD_
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads Andy Are these left over tags from the draw? After looking at the reg book it seemed like it all was a draw. Most likely though I just don't know how to read the book.

After looking at the reg book it seemed like it all was a draw. Most likely though I just don't know how to read the book. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, there are 22,000 tags in the draw and an average of 10,000 people apply. The leftovers go OTC in june and usually sell out in september. If you are worried, you can just apply and not have to worry about buying one, you will draw the tag. Andy

_MD_
Re: my deer country, 5 miles in no roads Is this going to be a RT deer hunt? I like the idea, especially the hiking for miles without horses or 4 wheelers to worry about.
