Re: Looking for my first...

You are going to get all kinds of responses. smile.gif

I am unfamiliar with the CZ100B so, I don't have any advice to give there.

I recently purchased a Steyr 9mm. I have enjoyed shooting it and have found that it is a great shooting weapon. Steyr has a sub compact version and a full size version.

I know that the XDs and the Glocks are also high quality pistols that are proven to be great firearms. They also have many sizes to choose from.

All of the pistols I mentioned above work pretty much the same. There are many pistols out there to choose from. I have found attending a gun show is a great way to check out everything you possibly want to see before you make a purchase.

Re: Looking for my first...

I went with the Springfield XD Subcompact in a 40s&w and absolutely love it. There would be no difference in the 9mm except you would get 10 rounds in the compact magazine (instead of 9 in the 40s&w) and 16 rounds in the extended magazine (instead of 12 in the 40s&w).

I recently posted some pros and cons to the XD in response to some questions. If you can't find it, please let me know (PM) and I can send it to you.

Yeah, and you would have much more knock down power with a .40 compared to a 9MM. If all you're looking to do is target shoot, go with the 9, if you're wanting deadly protection go with a .357 or .40 or higher. IMHO

smile.gif A little hearing protection goes a long way. I bet your ears are still ringing. I always get a bad headache if I go without hearing protection. Shotguns do not bother me too much but, all other firearms hurt

my ears and give me a headache.

Re: Looking for my first...

I'd go with a Sig 226 or 229 - they are more expensive than the Glock or XD. They are all metal and will last you forever. If you buy on in .40 or .357, you can always get the other caliber barrel and swap out - the mags are the same.

Re: Looking for my first...

can't help you with a 9 now if you want to go for the big knock down in a clipped pistol i myself like the 1911 model 45 acp. they have smaller versions but springfield and colt and my favorite is the rock island 1911. which is actually arms cor our of Pi. they have made many 1911's for all over the world.

i know there are several inclusing glock that make some 45's that are great for carry and also there are some models of the 1911 that are the commander types which are also excellent carry weapons. i guess i am old school. i want something that when i hit them it;s too late for them to respond. a good 230 grain hollowpoint is a great one shot knock bullet

I love the way they look!!! Problem is I only have $500 cant find a Kimber for that price and Erie PA

I don't think you are going to find a Kimber 1911 for less than $700. They are pretty expensive firearms. I think springfield has a 1911 for around $500 but, it is the basic 1911 with iron sites.

Thank you everyone for the comments. Yes I have narrowed it down. On sunday (Feb 4th) I am going to buy my pistol. It is a CZ40P. I have read all the comments here and looked at all the pistols that the dealers in my area offer. I after a few months of thinking and 2 weeks of looking at pistol each day I am going with this pistol becuase I like how it shoots, looks and feels in my hand. Thanks Again to everyone that made a comment.
