Re: H&R 1871 RMEF 35 Whelen

actually i had a guy who was wanting a shotgun and i was wanting to get rid of a shotgun and we met in ardmore oklahoma and made a trade.as soon as i got it home i went an cleaned it again. i am anal aboout that stuff lol. then i changed out the rings. the ones that were on there just didn't work for me. a buddy of mine wants the scope and we're supposed to trade off. the scope on it is really one for someone shooting long shots. its a 6x18 and i want to put a 2.5 or 3x10 or 12 with either a 40, 44 or 50 mm obj lense on it. the gun is good to say 300 or 350 yards with good knock down so i don't need a scope like what is on it.

it is a beautiful rifle and the pics don't do it any justice to be honest. to feel the wood is amazing and the finish is also unbelievable. the barrel is perfect so it wasn't shot much at all and when i went thru it. the barrel just shined like new chrome so i know it wasn't mistreated at all.

my hunting buddy and i are going to a local shop that has an indoor rifle range and i am going to test out a couple of different rounds and set it up for me

great gun and i am very pleased so far. i will let you know how it handles once i get a sims recoil pad on it. the lop is a bit short and a slip on sims will fix that for me

thanks aj for posting the pics for me

looks like i may be putting a leupold varix 111 on it in 3.5x10x40 tomorrow. that should hold up for the whelen and thursday i am headed to the sportsmans warehouse and get the slip on sims recoil pad and the deresonattor and then thursday or friday evening do some short range shooting indoors so i am pretty pumped lol

Re: H&R 1871 RMEF 35 Whelen

thanks tonight it got updated and i put a leupold varix 111 on it in 3.5x10x40 so i think i am going to be much happier than having the tasco varmit scope on it.

i am going to try and do some shooting fridays night at an indoor range just to see where i need to go with. when i usually bore sight it i am always high and left and i am not sure why but it is low and right so i am not going to touch it lol and see if i can shoot it into the target a little quicker

thanks for the nice words about it. as for a bolt??? lol sometimes it just takes one shot to make it go down lol

the wood is a high quality wood and the grain on it is immaculate
