Guest shortmag
Does anyone have any info or opinion on the Weatherby Sub-MOA in 300 WSM. I recently purchased one and haven't had the opportunity to fine tune it yet. It is promised to shoot below 1 MOA at 100yds, but I haven't been able to put it on the bench yet. I am just looking for anyone with any experience with one for some info!?!
AJ
Re: Weatherby 300 WSM Do you mean the Vanguard? What do you want to know about it? Its a Howa 1500 that is made in Japan and imported by Weatherby. Its a decent quality rifle that should serve you well for years to come. Guest shortmag
Re: Weatherby 300 WSM Yeah, its the vanguard. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience good or bad with the rifle. you know...does it live up to the accuracy claims, any mechanical problems...that sort of thing. I've always heard that the weatherby's are good rifles but I've never known anyone that had one that could give an opinion other than salesmen or the weatherby website, both of which will only tell you how great they are but will fail to mention any flaws. AJ
Re: Weatherby 300 WSM I have a Howa 1500 and owned a Vanguard in the past. Both are decent shooting guns. The Vanguard will come with a test target. It does not mean it will shoot sub MOA with all loads. In fact, it may only shoot one load sub MOA but if they advertise it they have to make it so. That also does not mean it will shoot sub MOA with anyone shooting the gun. If the shooter is only capable of holding 2 MOA due to form or shaking, its not the gun or company's fault. I am not saying you are a bad shot, as I have never met you, just pointing out some data to keep in mind.

soundmanspencer
Re: Moa I know this is an old post but I have had the Weatherby SUB MOA for a while. Mine shot ok (barely) MOA with a couple loads but then I found what the factory uses-plain old green and yellow box Remington loads. Now, not sure if it was the "break in" period or just finding what it likes but it holds 1/2 MOA out to 300yrds so far
Grady269
I've got one in .257 Wby Mag and It's a really good rifle. Not fancy, don't feel guilty if you scratch it. Accuracy is extremely good in my rifle, mine is not eh SUB MOA, just the standard $399 WBY. I have prpabaly shot 1`-200 rounds through it and have not had a single issue. Tecumseh
I have a Vanguard 300 WSM I've had for several years now and it's a tack driver with Winchester 180gr accubonds. I using two loads I made up with 180gr and 165gr Nosler Acuubonds with great results.Great Rifle for the money!
