hunterDWL
I was looking through lets see youre turkey guns and all i saw was shot guns .Is it just me or dose any body else hunt with a rifle im found of the 223 .I have several diffrent rifles and calibers i hunt turkeys with 223,22hornet, 222,221fireball,22250,and this year im going to try my new model 7 in 204.I even got a few over /under guns witch i think make an awsome turkey gun.A valmet 223/12gauge and a savge 222/20 gauge.Ialso use shot guns along with my bow just depends on how the turkeys are doing and the time of year, weather etc.
Covehnter
Re: turkey guns You see mostly shotgun in the thread because most of us are in states that only shotguns are legal for taking turkeys. That and most that are in the sport are out there to go head to head with the birds and outsmart them into good close shotgun range rather than shooting them at long distances. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: turkey guns Spring season is shotgun only. My shotgun is my old 870----it's 40 years old & only shoots 2 3/4" shells. But that's good enough for these Colorado Merriams. I use 1 1/2 oz Federals #4 shot with a standard full choke. Fall season a rifle is legal. My fall gun is a Savage 222/20 guage. I've taken birds out @ 100yards with the 222 & used the 20 guage 3" with Federal #6 for the close ones. I've got a staight 6X Leupold on it with see thru mounts, so I can look down the barrel for the shotgun. CB

woodsman1977
Re: turkey guns Michigan is shotgun or bow only. I am curious why anybody would want to use a rifle? doesn't seem like much challenge.
wtnhunt
Re: turkey guns Not legal to hunt turkeys here in the spring with a rifle. Has to be shotgun, bow or muzzleloading shotgun here.

Strut10
Re: turkey guns PA is another "shotgun & archery only" state in the spring. That's the way I like it. But a rifle sure would fix them old call-shy, field gobblers where legal. Now, in the fall................. we can use rifles. Can't use #2 shot in a shotgun. But you can use a .460 Weatherby if you like.
