Guest outdoorgirl
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls We have two call makers on here Alex and Bowhunter56 (Andy) and they have pictures of the calls they make here on the forum. I own 2 of Bowhunter56's calls one a slate and the other glass and they sound really good. These guys are well liked and both are great call makers. Strut10
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls IMHO........ The best production boxcall out there in the $20 range is the Hally Caller Deluxe Box. In the $40 range it's the Primos Heartbreaker. Custom boxes are everywhere. Some are junk. Most are good or better. The sky's the limit as far as $$ goes. You can put several hundred bucks in a custom right quick. Either run some customs or get good references. Pot calls...........they vary so widely. Any of the Cody's are a sure bet for a production call. In a custom call, you need to either pick a bunch up & run them yourself (like at a sports expo or something). Or you need to take recommendations from folks you trust. Hopefully their ear will like the same sound as you. Most custom call-builders will cheerfully refund your money if you are not 110% satisfied with their work. (They're a proud bunch and stand by it. )

BIG_COUNTRY
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls I DON'T OWN A BOX CALL, BUT AS FOR A POT CALL, I'D STRONGLY RECOMEND MAGNOLIA GAME CALLS. HIS CALLS ARE BEAUTIFULL, AND SOUND EVEN BETTER THAN THEY LOOK. www.MAGNOLIAGAMECALLS.COM TELL 'EM BIG COUNTRY SENT YA.

MrWiggely
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls First question I have is how much experience do you have with slate and box calls? Is this your first time trying to hunt turkey? If you are a new comer I would start with the box call. Pick one up at the local wal mart and practice practice practice. Watch videos and try and imitate what they do. As you get better with the call, move to the slate, glass call.
Hoyt03
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls For box calls I will agree with Strut and say the Hally Caller deluxe box is pretty sweet. You can order from the number on their website. Another good box are the mountainside game calls, you will have to talk to Jbeck for one of those. Mountian side also has a glass/slate combo that is super easy to run and sounds awesome. Send Jbeck a pm and he can hook you up.
Born2Hunt
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls If it kills a turkey it's a good one and any call will kill birds if used correctly. If you want a call that looks good, sounds good and kills birds go with a custom call. Alex, Andy and Strut all make calls that are nice shoot them a pm and they will chat with you. Guest IAbooner
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls One of the best mass produced slate calls is the Ol' Yeller! This was one of my first slate calls.Even though I now own several custom calls, the Ol' Yeller still gets used and still get's great results!! For the price it is a Winner!!!!! AdvantageTimberLou
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls Get yourself a Primos Power Crystal and for a box call I got a Amish made one that sounds awesome. I do love the power crystal, it wakes up the woods!
turkaholic
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls If your just getting started in turkey hunting I would suggest trying a basic push button box call. I have been at this for 20 years and still to this day carry my Madd push button call. Get yourself a turkey video and learn what you need to sound like. Another call I would not leave home without is the Madd super aluminator. When it comes to pot calls this one is hard to beat and easy to learn. Happy shopping. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: looking for some suggestions on turkey calls For box calls I really like the Quaker Boy--'Grand Old Master'-----sound really carries which is useful in calling these Colorado Merriams. I also like the Lynch ---"101"--Fool Proof 1 sider. Makes great yelps. Simple to use----Sounds good very time you stroke it. Pot calls-----I don't use them. Merriams seem to like the box calls---so that's what I give them, plus a load of Federal #4's. CB
