dartonman
I am wanting to buy this gun, because I can get it pretty cheap....the components, aka spring, trigger and action are tight, however it was stored in poor conditions...in a wet barn, because all it was ever used for was close range kills on pigs for slaughter....the bluing is rusty and pitted, and its dirty....Im gonna clean up what I can...need advise on stripping her clean of blueing.....I am really thinking about sending it off (if its still accurate) and dipping it in realtree camo.........so, major cleaning advise needed...everything has some form of pitting rust.............al

popgun
Re: Need help gang/Ruger single 6 .22 pistol If you are determined to strip it down to bare metal, you can use plain old oven cleaner. Be sure to wash the parts thoroughly afterwords with soapy water and oil them up good, or they can re-rust overnight. If the outside is pitted with rust, it is a good indication that the inside of the barrel is also pitted. It may not be worth the effort having it re-blued or camo'd, if it won't shoot worth a nickel when you're through. ....popgun
