Guest TnLadyhunter Posted February 2, 2007 Report Share Posted February 2, 2007 Been pulled down hill 20 yards by a energetic Black and Tan Hmmm Happened to me It was a beautiful night for the first little bit! Haley and Bullet did what they were suppose to and the pup even got in on the coon fighting action! Well as we headed off the hill Huntaholic and Haley were carrying the coon in front of me and 8 then Richard and Bullet were bringing up the rear! Well 8 decided he wasn't through with the coon so he jumped up and took off. I was hanging on good and about to have a meeting of the minds when he JUMPED over a little log and I fell on my butt Well he pulled me about 5 yards like that but since it was down hill I just stood up and well he jerked again before I got steady so I was on my face and stretched out going down hill fast I was calmly saying hey, hey, HEY!!! When 8 hit Huntaholic in the back of the leg he turned around and looked at him funny then his light traveled to the end of his leash and there I was stretched out like a baseball player sliding to second with a mound of leaves in my face. He politely asked me if I was ok before he started laughing As for my precious husband behind me well he started laughing about the time I went on my butt and hasn't stopped YET!!!! It was a wild ride and I have the bruises to prove it but it was funny enough to do it again! I almost had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard. But then Mr Laugh happy takes a spill with Bullett in the field so I got to return the favor though he got right back up and it wasn't as funny I gave it all I had laughing anyway!! To make a long story short, the dogs did there part, we got a coon and I had more FUN THAN EVER!! I think the last time I was seriously drug was in 8th grade when I was volunteering by training dogs and they had this huge mastiff in the class. I held his leash while the owner went to the other end of the agility course to call him through one the jumps and he decided when she started walking away he was going and I for the life of me couldn't get a footing to stop him. He drug me with him like I was nothing. lol I haven't been drug by my own dogs in a good long time. We use those head halters on our dogs when we walk them no pulling once so ever even if they want to pull they just spin themselves in circles instead. Only time I was drug by my dogs was when I hooked the dog up with her Skijoring equipment, but she was suppose to pull against me. Other time was when they have their tracking harnesses on a few times I got pulled when I was too slow at keeping up. It's a wild ride when you really seriously get drug by a dog. I was holding 2 pups last year and my Dad climbed the tree to shake the coon out, and it came out. Dogs heard it drop and away we go!! A good 10 yards on slick dew covered grass and finally I was able to pull back get to my feet to let them loose after it. That's what I get for having a 75lb hound! He's a horse with Horse Power!
