Bownarow
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm gonna see him Friday night at a seminar. Maybe I'll ask him why he never comes on the board. Actually, I wonder what the atmosphere of the seminar will be and if I'll even get to chat with him. I guess we'll see. [/ QUOTE ] Where's the seminar and when? Seating still available? [/ QUOTE ] This seminar was actually on the 9th. Sorry you didn't see my note until after that. The seminar was at the St. Louis boat show and there was plenty of seating available. The seminar had nothing to do with tips and tactics but rather how roadtrips and Michael got started in the business. It was kind of cool to sit there and listen to him detail the beginnings of the Roadtrips show. I didn't get to chat with him really at all after the show but there were a lot of kids there wanting pictures and autographs and such. So, I just shook his hand, told him I enjoyed the seminar, and was on my way. However, later in the night after I was done checking out the 3-D tourney. I passed him in an empty hall and we chatted for just a minute. He asked if I was comming back the next day to shoot the tourney. He said if I came back he would shoot with me. Unfortunately, I had to be at a baptism the next morning and was unable to make it. Maybe next time I guess.
Rhino
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? [ QUOTE ] Can anyone tell me if they seen Waddel miss on camera? [/ QUOTE ] Yep he sure did. A 10 yard bow shot in Texas a couple of years or so (on a MB video) before the shot you referenced. Sooner or later, everybody misses. TexasDeerHunter
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? Coastie the 10 point Waddell shot jumping a fence was not at the MMR Ranch ( aka Vatoville ) it was at the Timmins Ranch. Wait , it may have been the Perlitz. Anyway, it was long before the they hunted the MMR.
huntermq32
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? I truly believe that if most of us had the spotts that Michael hunted all over the U.S we could be just as sucsessfull as him or any other so called pro hunters.Don't get me wrong I like the guy and respect him but these people are not hunting gods. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? Have to agree, if they did more public hunts or even private land and had success without an outfitter to tell them where the big ones are they would be normal guys. But, and here's the big but, to make TV shows a hit, people want to see monster bucks being hunted and harvested and if your going to hunt them and do it for TV, you need outfitters to step in and get you in areas with known big bucks. I once heard Tom Miranda say he will not hunt an area if there is not a big buck that has been spotted, he wants evidence such as game camera pictures. Well most hunters know, we have to take what our areas provide but for the pros they tend to be selective and we could too if we had the money to do what they are able to do. As for Michael's shooting skills, he impresses me, the guy can flat out shoot a bow and arrow!

[/ QUOTE ] i disagree...ever watch a drury video? i;'m guessing about 95% of the hunts they show on thier videos are all private land that the people manage themselves. they are constantly showing them putting in foodplots, showing pics and video footage of the deer in the area, and are always talking about "letting this one go another year or two" or "we are trying to shoot only 3-1/2 or 4-1/2 year olds. those are some great videos...best out there IMO
bowana
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? I have met the Drury boys and I can tell you they know how to hunt! They know how to have a good time too, but thats another story!! The boys are......well the boys.

I won't mention names but if you watch most hunting shows you see these guys arriving to an outfitter who puts them in mack daddy spots!! Your still missing my point, to make a TV hunting show successful and get viewers to watch, viewers want to see monster bucks harvested. If Bill Jordan and crew just harvested does and spike horns they would not have the success they have now. We all want to see that 160 to 200" deer get taken. Hunters are drawn to big antlers and that is what makes hunting shows great!!
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Michael Waddell Left ? i think in the past, everyone wanted to see big deer on the videos and tv shows....but i think more and more people are realizing that seeing these guys sitting in the same stands at the same outfitter every year is getting old. i myself don't really look at the size of the deer anymore, but it is the quality of the hunts and footage. i would rather see someone kill an average size deer, and maybe even take out a couple of doe's as long as it is good footage of the hunt and more than just "we are at so and so outfitter" then 2 seconds later a giant deer is on the ground.
