LETMGROW
OK, bud, I'm going to put you on the spot. IF you were to go out tomorrow and buy a new muzzleloader and had to use it to hunt with, what would you buy? Price aside!
Tominator
Re: ??? AJ\'S Muzzleloader ??? You done opened a can-O-worms now bud! I'll make a prediction, price aside, I'm going to guess Savage or some other exotic he talks about and I forget the name of now, because I'll never own one. AJ
Re: ??? AJ\'S Muzzleloader ??? My ultimate big game muzzleloader would be a custom (whoda thunk it) Ruger No. 1 with a 26" Pac-Nor .45 caliber barrel with a 1 in 22" twist. I would be shooting the Barnes TMZ 290 gr bullet being pushed by 10X or VVN120 powder. It should reach 2600 fps with a 290 gr bullet. This combo will also work very well for deer, but I would drop down to a 250 gr SST bullet and use H4198 powder. Again it would reach 2500-2600 fps. I am planning this gun now but on a Savage bolt action. I am looking into custom fiberglass stocks and awaiting the arrival of the barrels. If it had to be a factory gun, it would be a Savage 10ML-II.
