RyanH
Hey dude Welcome to the Forums! I remeber that hunt! If I remeber right the shooter is the owner of Tompson fire arms! I know exatly where your coming from here! I believe it was a very poor disicion! But I also look at it as, THE OWNER, he shoots these guns everyday! Im sure he knew what he was doing! I know he was sure of the shot and made it!
wtnhunt
Re: Realtrees TV show Welcome to the forums. Have not seen that one. 90 mph winds? WOW, dont think I would be up in a tree in any winds that high. As for the shot, if somone is knowledgeable on the compensation for the drop and windage, I really dont see a problem with a shot in high winds, I do however question who would be out to hunt in 90 mph winds. Winds that high in my experience to see a deer you would have to be pretty darned lucky.
Ravin R10 man
Re: Realtrees TV show Hey ..I was out last weekend in 50 MPH gusts and in a treestand too!! I saw that show, I didnt have a problem with it, and I doubt that the wind was constantly 90 miles an hour.....if at all, it was prob half that. Tominator
Re: Realtrees TV show i think that episode is off MB XII--the dude who works for Thompson Center. yeah, he wasn't up in a tree, and he had a great rest, prone shot as i recall, and like Martin said, those winds weren't 90MPH, maybe 40 to 50. dogdoc
Re: Realtrees TV show I saw that show yesterday---was a heck of a shot in those conditions. The wind was REALLY blowing. I think they said the gusts were up to 90 mph. I know I wouldn't take that shot--heck, I wouldn't even go out on those conditions but they guy knew what he was doing and made a great shot---it was also a great buck todd
billygoat
Re: Realtrees TV show [ QUOTE ] heck, I wouldn't even go out on those conditions [/ QUOTE ] Me too, say what you will. Regardless, remember it is a video and HAS been edited, and they do (believe it or not) slightly romanticize the facts... You ever notice, 90 percent of the deer they shoot were "one the last day of the hunt"?... I don't know about you, but in WI you generally only get one tag, so when you shoot your deer... Well, technically, you shot your deer on the "last day of the hunt"... those winds were probably 45 mph... good rest, good deer position, good shot. too_pointer
Re: Realtrees TV show I've seen that clip a couple of times also. That guy know his muzzleoaders real well. They said wind gusts, so I'm sure he didn't shoot when it was at 90 mph. I thought he did a fine job stalking that buck, I don't think I would of went what he went through, but I don't have cameras on me either LOL. too_pointer
Norm Sauceman
Re: Realtrees TV show [ QUOTE ] I know the owner of a local outfit that makes helmets for the military, does that make him an expert on combat tactics? [/ QUOTE ] Heck no! But I would consider him an expert in helmets for the military. BTW, welcome to the forums...and what a great first post..
