Turkeygirl
How many of you ladies like to fish besides hunting? what do you typically fish for? anyone fly fish? I've fished way longer than I've hunted, and last spring I took up fly fishing which is alot of fun, minus learning knots and such. I like to fish mainly for trout and steelhead sometimes, but the occasional bass is fun also.
BowtechsWife
Re: Fishing? I love being out on the water! I enjoy all types of fishing, but prefer bass fishing. Never down fly fishing. Sound like fun, just not many places around me that is good for fly fishing.
Guest Andrea
Re: Fishing? Bass fishing, catfishing, fishing for jackfish, bream, crappie, ALL OF IT. Gotta love saltwater fishing too. I was born with a fishing pole in my hands girls. I would fish every single day if I could. I will NEVER get tired of it.
Gus
Re: Fishing? Do a little fishing in the spring and summer time. Mainly for bass and catfish. Also run a few juglines and trotlines while at the lake during the summer.
M00N
Re: Fishing? I've been fishing longer than I've been hunting. I'll fish for anything and everything that I can. Around where I live most popular fishing is smallmouth, catfish, carp, walley, crappie, sunfish, and shad. Actually the river is just out my back door at the end of my property there is an inlet that leads to the river or if I just cross the inlet I hit an island and if I walk across that I have access to the river also. Within reasonable driving distances I can get to lakes and streams that hold stocked trout to fish for them some. I can also get access to areas to fish for largemouth, musky, pike, and perch. Where I hunt, trout and sunfish are the most common fish to catch from the lake we fish at. They stock the trout in the lake, so long as it's trout season there's tons of fish to try to catch. Mostly brown trout with occasional rainbow mixed in. I also like going to Delaware and Maryland to fish the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays. Caught some nice flounder out of there before and some sharks on accident that I got to hold before letting go. Harmless sand sharks, nothing major. Going to try some tuna fishing when the guys go again for those since I don't seem to get sea sick. I also won a trip back in junior high to go sailing on a replica ship with some biologists. We threw a few nets in and caught some crab and perch with them for study. That was the best school trip I ever went on. Out of a class of 400 I was one of the lucky 25 picked to go. We had to do projects based on sailing and I hand drew a model sailship and labeled all the parts out on it and write ups of what the parts did. Here's two pictures I have of myself with some fish I caught. The one is from 1996 of catfish I caught out in river just behind where I live now. At the time my grandfather owned the property, so the pictures are from the old house we lived at before we bought the property from my grandfather and moved here. The other picture is from 2003 in the Delaware Bay of the flounder I caught. Only keeper anyone caught on the boat that day and biggest flounder of that entire trip. Guest TnLadyhunter
Re: Fishing? Oh I love to fish!! I really enjoy bass fishing! If I HAD to choose though I love Jug Fishing for big Cats! We have caught some 50 pounders in the Tennessee River. It is awesome to watch them pull the jug under and run with it cause you can only imagine what they look like until you finally chase them down and get them in the boat! We generally let the big ones go to get bigger. But I like pan fishing and bass fishing alot too!!
SUGARKAHNE
Re: Fishing? I LOVE fishing, but I don't get to go very often. I have been deep-sea fishing a few times, but I like freshwater fishing too.
