Gus
Looking at getting rid of this dial-up and getting something faster. Where I get my service now has both wireless and DSL, here are the cheaper plans, which would you suggest I get. Wireless $200 install 128K for $30 and 256K for $40 a month DSL $100 install 512/128K for $39 On their website it says for the wireless that you should be within so many miles of the tower which I am. I think one of my neighbors has their wireless, but I need to talk with them. Not sure I am going to go with this company, but right now I am open to suggestions
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Wireless or DSL I would go with Dsl simply for the fact that it is a copper connection verses air waves which is susceptable to weather ... hard rain hail ect ... plus and outside connection ... The DSL is plenty fast and it will just get faster ... the wireless is restricted to bandwidth .... Steve
Rhino
Re: Wireless or DSL I agree with Steve. If you go wireless you will have times when the weather will temporarily shut you down. However, wireless is a lot better than dial up.
toddyboman
Re: Wireless or DSL Either is better than dial up! But I would agree with others go with dsl it will be more stable.
M00N
Re: Wireless or DSL Go with the DSL. Both are better than dial-up for sure, but DSL is the fastest and most stable of the two.
Gus
Re: Wireless or DSL Thanks for the input folks, think I might go and talk with them next week sometime and see what they have to say about their different services. wtnhunt
Re: Wireless or DSL Just found out that dsl is finally becoming available to us. Signed up yesterday for the lite plan which will run $24.95 a month, then I think we should still get our $5 off of that for the bundled plan. Will not be until April that we get our installation kit from bellsouth for whatever reason though. Like said above, think the dsl would be better than the wireless. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Wireless or DSL Tonya, unless you're talking about broadband cellular, for the wireless to work you need line of sight from your antennae to theirs. Trees and large powerlines that are in your path may cause problems too. I would only consider wireless as an option if DSL wasn't available.
