ParrotHead
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070201/ap_on_re_us/parents_fined Every registered Republican should sent there voter registration card to their elected officials with a note saying “You guys have lost it, we’re switching to another party”. In Texas a Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make it a crime for a parent to miss a Parent/Teacher Conference, punishable up to $500.00 and a misdemeanor. I hate to admit it but the Republican Party has let you and I and every other Republican down. Is there even one conservative left out there or are we looking at the future, a future of socialists parading around as Republicans and Democrats. We’re just clipping the tip of the ice berg folks. In the recent past we’ve seen first hand how a corrupt government can and will hold it’s citizens hostage but witnessing legislation in one state banning home protection and if law abiding citizens don’t turn over some of the most basic firearms they will become criminals. We’ve witnessed here at corrupt legislator that wants to make parents criminals by simply not sitting down and talking with what probably is an unskilled person put into place by an government that is unwilling to allow our children to be educated at a level to sustain them throughout life. And now we have a bill in New York that would make it a crime to walk across the street while listening to your ipod! I don’t know about you, but I could care less about someone so distracted by music that they walk in front of a bus and gets spread all out over the asphault. I say more power to the bus drivers! If you can’t walk and listen at the same time then you pretty much don’t deserve to be taking up valuable space on this planet. Want to do some good for this country? Write your lawmakers and demand they stop this petty trivial crap and actually do something good for the country. Here’s an idea, stop worrying about idiots listening to ipods and start worrying about the millions of children that don’t have healthcare. There’s a real problem but if you want to get a politian out of your face quickly then bring that up. And forget about healthcare for adults. If you’re an adult then you need to take upon some sort of responsibility for yourself.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Republicans are just as stupid as democrats [ QUOTE ] Every registered Republican should sent there voter registration card to their elected officials with a note saying “You guys have lost it, we’re switching to another party”. [/ QUOTE ] While I'm not a registered Republican, I do usually support Republican candidates and issues. If there was a party with viable candidates who were more conservative than the Republican party, I would not hesitate to switch my support to them. Until then, I'll continue to support the more conservative (or less liberal) candidate with a realistic chance of winning.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty convinced at this point that if the Republicans don't field Mike Huckabee (I sure wish Rick Santorum would run!!!) or another conservative, 2008 will be the first presidential election I will sit out since I started to vote. Right now I'm thinking about writing the GOP and suggesting they change their party symbol from the elephant to some kind of cross between an ostrich and a jellyfish. [/ QUOTE ] Everything seems gloomy right now for the Republicans because they don't yet have a strong candidate for President in 2008, while the Democrats have two candidates, Clinton and Obama, that are getting a lot of good press. But keep in mind that the Democrat Party does not have any strong positions to run on. They can't get elected by supporting their core causes of international isolationism, abortion on demand, gun control, raising taxes, socializing medicine, gay rights and racial quotas. Bush will be term limited out and Cheney won't be on the ticket, so that takes away the number one issue the Democrats used in 2006. If the Democrats don't have a "boogeyman" to run against, they're in trouble.

I'm in almost constant contact with many of my students parents and conferences really aren't necessary for them.

[/ QUOTE ] I understand your personal concern for your own interests. I really do. But, if that's the biggest flaw we can find with the guy (and especially considering the platforms of the rest of the Republican hopefuls)............anyone who considers themselves 1/2 conservative needs to get behind Rick. I live in his state.......have personally met him and heard him speak. He "gets it". Some candidates don't "get it". Rick gets it. Now, if he'd just run.
