MichiganHuntr1 Posted February 10, 2007 Report Share Posted February 10, 2007 The past couple days my computer was getting worked on. I had memory put in my computer, and it whacked my boot files. Well the guy that fixed my computer screwed one thing up. And i have no clue how to fix it and dont feel like being without a computer for two days for him to fix it. I know i dont have a virus, but for some reason i cant change my homepage. Its back to the factory standard homepage from dell. Ive got Internet Explorer 7, and when i go in to change homepage, it doesnt allow it. I type it in, click apply, exit internet explorer, and try again, and its right back to what it was. I bet you arent setup as the admin for that computer .. you cant change things like that if you arent logged in as the admin to your OS ... KenW Posted February 10, 2007 Report Share Posted February 10, 2007 Re: Computer Geeks...erm.....dudes It sounds like your in the right area but your typing in the address and clicking use current wich will keep your home page as the site you started in Try going to the website you want for your homepage first. Then click on tools in the menu bar choose Internet options and select use current for the home page. You should always keep a version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer as it is the only way you can update the security of any Microsoft OS or access their website. Microsoft will only allow Internet Explorer versions to download security updates, verify their Windows installations, etc. Never fully delete Internet Explorer out of your system! Windows was built on and around it and needs it to run correctly. FireFox works just fine running side by side with Internet Explorer. As far as your homepages not saving MichiganHuntr1, I'd try KenW's suggestion. If that doesn't work I'd make sure you have all the latest Windows Updates, might been a bug in an earlier version of Internet Explorer 7 that has a patch to fix it out.
