LETMGROW
I had an old friend come by this afternoon and ask me to use my shooting range. No problem I said, but asked him, why? He said he was on some sort of Forum which would let you belong to a club if you shot a magnum gun. " Sure go ahead " I replied. Well, he brought out this massive hand cannon which took a cartridge the likes of, I have never seen. I asked him how many grains of powder he used? He said he didn't know for sure but it was just shy of a 5 gallon pail's worth. He sat down, aimed at a target 800 yards away and touched that baby off. My wife won't have to dust the house for a month, the picnic table he was shooting off is now kindling wood and the plywood target board can be used for mulch next spring. I brought my dazed and disoriented friend into the house for a little R&R. My wife took one look at him and said Oh, That Poor Guy. OTPG! Now I understand! Strut10
Re: OTPG..Now I Understand! Some girls just weren't cut out for the OTPG. Just give your buddy a .38 Special and cup of cocoa and sit him down on the porch. Everything will be all better. He can apply for SCOPE membership when he heals. LETMGROW
Re: OTPG..Now I Understand! When he gets out of traction i'll mention this to him. I'll let him decide. He will be on a liquid diet for a couple days! He will need calcium to rebuild his bones. Maybe the cocoa isn't a bad idea. It takes those 375# guys a little longer to recover! JJL
Re: OTPG..Now I Understand! It truly takes a special breed of man to be an OTPG member. Your friend obviously isn't one of them. The next time he comes over, I suggest that the two of you just stay on the porch and play Barbies or maybe read your Nancy Drew books. Let the big kids do the shooting. It's apparent that its way too traumatic for the two of you.

LETMGROW
Re: OTPG..Now I Understand! There are two little sweethearts! Some mommy and daddy are going to be real busy when they are teenagers. I am proud to be a scope member. BTW, I bought a new gun this pm. I lengthened the string 36" on the cork string. Does this qualify as a magnum?

Some mommy and daddy are going to be real busy when they are teenagers. [/ QUOTE ] They should be just fine as long as they stay "on the porch" where Mommy and Daddy can watch them. But I'm sure like all children do, someday they will grow up and leave the comforts of the porch and venture out into the world to live life like it was meant. First step...........put down the cocoa.

LETMGROW
Re: OTPG..Now I Understand! Let's put this into perspective. All you magnum shooters are is somebody who has to have way more extra heft and bulk than you really need! Without a doubt most of you drive a surburban, 4-door duelly pickup,Hummer or some other overgrown land yacht you tote yourself around in. Hunting is like a race. You bring the best piece, suited to the need, to the track. While all the other competitors have a nimble 3300# car, which runs faster and flatter, you show up with your Dura Max Suburban. Granted you might get around the track but you are going to get your doors blown off by the little guy who has the equipment right for the job. Bigger isn't always better!!!! LOL
