woodsman1977
Does anybody build and or maintain wood duck boxes for the local marsh or river? If so do you keep any records as far as which direction they face? I maintain about 75 boxes in the Muskegon river marsh and just wanted to compare notes with guys doing the same. Thanks
Strut10
Re: wood duck boxes We maintain 2 one on each of our ponds. As yet (2 years) we've never had a nest. They both face east (prevailing wind is from the west).
RTF
Re: wood duck boxes I was told one box cannot be in view of another. Is this true ?

duckslayer
Re: wood duck boxes i have one woodduck box on the pond near my house and we've had a few ducks in it, but it faces west!
RackBlaster
Re: wood duck boxes I have 12 that face east on a creek . Every year atleast 4 are occupied , by both wood ducks and mallards. They are spread about 20 yards apart in a straight line on the same side of the creek. I started out with 2 about 15 years ago and just added over the years. What i have noticed is the boxes that were in the more wide open were the ones that the ducks preffered , i'm guessing maybe for the suns heat. I hardly do any maintenence except removing unhatched eggs.
