toddyboman
A guy told me the other day that he thought coyotes find shed and chew on them. I know I give sheds to my dog to chew on and to help him get accustom to the smell and he loves to chew on them but coyotes.. What do you guys think?? deershed
Re: Shed and Coyotes No yotes in my area, but I've found sheds fox have messed with.I hear they'll pee on them and roll around on the shed probably as some sort of marker.Every now and then you'll find a shed and smell the fox urine without a problem. PAbowhunter86
Re: Shed and Coyotes I have heard that alot actually. A shed is a soruce of protein. Its like giveing a dog a bone to chew.
Guest steeleyes
Re: Shed and Coyotes Coyotes definitely play with sheds and chew on sheds. I found a fresh set this year that was nearly 650 yards apart. My guess is that a coyote picked up the matching shed and carried it out into the field. Reason I say this: (1) Nice fresh canine marks on the tines. (2) The shed I found in the field could not have been naturally dropped at that location by a deer. There was absolutely no reason for a deer to be where the shed was found. Plus, fresh coyote tracks to boot!
Guest shedman6o
Re: Shed and Coyotes I have found sheds that have been chewed by fox or yotes. I thought they were yote pups teething on them and also to get them started in the learning process for hunting there prey.I to shed hunt about a 1/2 hour south of Wash.d.c.and find some monster sheds. Squirrelhunter91
Re: Shed and Coyotes PAbowhunter, a shed isn't a source of protein. It's a source of calcium. It's a bone.

I do most my shedding further south into Montgomery co. and where I shed hunt the odds are slim the yotes are there.Where abouts you at in Md?
