They still play them alot in Canada, can't stand them! Everytime they come on I ussually shut the radio off!

If it was your PM, you country would feel about them the way most red blooded Americans over here do. Of course you have your left wing wackos and the liberals that are happy with what they said. Their crappy music is not allowed in my home what-so-ever. If it comes on the TV...the TV gets changed.

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.

they are very good singers, who were very popular. then, they kicked their audience, the american redneck, right where it hunts. now, they are nothing.

if the "honors" were handed out on record sales, they would be on the bottom of the barrel. but, it's all hollywood hype and politics that made them win. so, don't let it get you down. they are nothings today, and have even admitted that their sales are about 15% of what they used to be. boycotting the dixie chick sales is hurting them real bad, and this is just a lame attempt to get their followers to buy.... don't buy it.

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware

I hate the Chicks for their stance on hunting! They can say whatever they want about the war...I ain't listening.

Just think....for the folks who like them and continue to buy their music...part of the proceeds go to Peta and other anti-hunting orgs.

BTW, how come the Chicks aren't winning anything in Country music award shows? smirk.gif

Didn't really see a need for a comment like that...although it really don't even make any sense to me anyways!

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware

Got one thing to say about the chicks. They have every opportunity to leave this country. If they dislike the country and the leadership of it so much that they have to make such remarks to those outside this country as a slap in the face to us all, they should just go on away and stay away.

I lost what little respect I had for them when the whole thing started between them and Toby Keith. The gestures and comments made by Maines were quite rude and most country music fans being patriotic and supportive of this country, just dont want to hear their political garbage and bashes.

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware

THE RADIO STATIONS HERE IN THE SOUTH HAVEN'T PLAYED A SONG BY THE PIXIE STICKS SINCE THEY WENT OVERSEAS AND RAN THEIR MOUTHS. THEY CAN'T EVEN BOOK CONSERTS IN THE SOUTH, AND I'VE HEARD MOST OF THE ONES UP NORTH WERE CANCELLED. I'VE ALSO HEARD CANADA IS THE ONE PLACE (LOCALLY) THEY HAVE ANY SUPPORT.

HOLLYWOOD, AND THE MEDIA FOR THE MOST PART MAKE ME SICK!

I dont get it, why are so many US people upset with them when they really did not say anything more than I heard other US people saying against Bush and the war ?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm with Robert on this one. Who cares what they said?? I guess it says a little about society when we spend so much time worrying about others. Once again...big deal, they spouted off, they are not the only ones that did and big deal they won some Grammies....does anyone really care about the Grammies or just want to spout their mouth, not unlike the Dixie Chicks. confused.gif

My comment wasn't meant to be a slam on Canadians, I just meant that what they said didn't effect you guys one way or the other, since you're not American. No harm was meant.

Steve, if you research it a bit you'll see this album has sold over 10 million copies and spent a long time at the top of Billboard chart. Heck I don't even care about the chick or their comments, it just seems like the site is at times a place for people to beak like they did. Why is it ok for us but not for them. confused.gif

Its not the left wing wackos and the liberals from Canada that won the hardware for Dixie Chicks. From the release below its red blooded Americans at home that did.

Katie Hasty, N.Y.

For the third time in their career, the Dixie Chicks roost on the top of The Billboard 200. The Columbia album "Taking the Long Way" tallied 526,000 copies in its first week of U.S. sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the trio's best-selling week since 2002's "Home" debuted with 780,000.

And while country radio has remained cool to the group in the wake of a 2003 boycott following comments group member Natalie Maines made about President Bush, "Taking the Long Way" also nabs the No. 1 spot on the Country Albums chart, bumping Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang" (Lyric Street/Hollywood) down to No. 2 after seven weeks at the top.

Also, few pop radio stations opted to take a chance on "Not Ready To Make Nice," although Atlanta CHR radio station WSTR did add the song to its playlist belatedly in June 2006. The song topped VH1's fan voted top 20 video countdown for 13 straight weeks, making it the longest running video at the #1 spot on the countdown. crazy.gifconfused.gif

If you play in a band and your album has just gone platinum, means it has sold over one million copies

The Chicks’ latest CD, Taking the Long Way, has been certified double platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. Taking the Long Way was the 6th biggest selling disc last year in the U.S.

That would mean that 2 million americans bought the cd. crazy.gif So it seems they had their vote in that way. shocked.gif

I don't like their music and have none of their records,cd,s,albums etc: wink.gif

Let's come in a day late and a dollar short and beat a dead horse, how'd that be. Why don't you come into America for a little while and take a look at the sacrifices these soldiers are making, and the efforts that the President is making towards securing Iraq so the people over there don't have to sleep with one eye open. Then listen to some idiotic fat singer run her mouth and put down that very President just to get a cheer out of a crowd, then let's hear your take on the whole thing. Either way, I could care less what you have to say, just like I could care less what the Dixie Chicks have to say. I've chosen to ignore them and can do the same thing with you.

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware

The chicks get no play in this area. We are not far from Nashville where country music is kind of big. Usually hear new music pretty early on around here. Cannot remember the last time I heard the chicks played on ANY stations around here. Think they screwed themselves with country music fans.

No offense to you guys in Canada, but the chicks are not from Canada and bad mouthing Canada's leadership and talking poorly about your country to people outside the country trying to influence opinions. Might be a little different for your perspectives if that was the case.
