snapper
Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware I hate the Chicks for their stance on hunting! They can say whatever they want about the war...I ain't listening. Just think....for the folks who like them and continue to buy their music...part of the proceeds go to Peta and other anti-hunting orgs. BTW, how come the Chicks aren't winning anything in Country music award shows? [ QUOTE ] Spoken like a true Canadian. wtnhunt
Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware Got one thing to say about the chicks. They have every opportunity to leave this country. If they dislike the country and the leadership of it so much that they have to make such remarks to those outside this country as a slap in the face to us all, they should just go on away and stay away. I lost what little respect I had for them when the whole thing started between them and Toby Keith. The gestures and comments made by Maines were quite rude and most country music fans being patriotic and supportive of this country, just dont want to hear their political garbage and bashes. May 31, 2006, 10:55 AM ET Katie Hasty, N.Y. For the third time in their career, the Dixie Chicks roost on the top of The Billboard 200. The Columbia album "Taking the Long Way" tallied 526,000 copies in its first week of U.S. sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the trio's best-selling week since 2002's "Home" debuted with 780,000. And while country radio has remained cool to the group in the wake of a 2003 boycott following comments group member Natalie Maines made about President Bush, "Taking the Long Way" also nabs the No. 1 spot on the Country Albums chart, bumping Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang" (Lyric Street/Hollywood) down to No. 2 after seven weeks at the top. Also, few pop radio stations opted to take a chance on "Not Ready To Make Nice," although Atlanta CHR radio station WSTR did add the song to its playlist belatedly in June 2006. The song topped VH1's fan voted top 20 video countdown for 13 straight weeks, making it the longest running video at the #1 spot on the countdown. [/ QUOTE ] If you play in a band and your album has just gone platinum, means it has sold over one million copies The Chicks’ latest CD, Taking the Long Way, has been certified double platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. Taking the Long Way was the 6th biggest selling disc last year in the U.S. That would mean that 2 million americans bought the cd. So it seems they had their vote in that way. I don't like their music and have none of their records,cd,s,albums etc:

Why don't you come into America for a little while and take a look at the sacrifices these soldiers are making, and the efforts that the President is making towards securing Iraq so the people over there don't have to sleep with one eye open. Then listen to some idiotic fat singer run her mouth and put down that very President just to get a cheer out of a crowd, then let's hear your take on the whole thing. Either way, I could care less what you have to say, just like I could care less what the Dixie Chicks have to say. I've chosen to ignore them and can do the same thing with you. wtnhunt
Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware The chicks get no play in this area. We are not far from Nashville where country music is kind of big. Usually hear new music pretty early on around here. Cannot remember the last time I heard the chicks played on ANY stations around here. Think they screwed themselves with country music fans. No offense to you guys in Canada, but the chicks are not from Canada and bad mouthing Canada's leadership and talking poorly about your country to people outside the country trying to influence opinions. Might be a little different for your perspectives if that was the case.
