silentgate
Do you have to use the special anti-seize lube on your chokes and breech plugs or can you use other anti-seize like the Loctite Silver Grade Anti-Seize?
carbonhunter
Re: Choke lube? I always just use a tiny bit of gun oil on them. Im sure AJ will have some good ideas for you.
AJ
Re: Choke lube? You don't have top use special anti sieze on them, but you may have ot keep an eye on them more often. I use the same stuff I use on my breechplug. Its called the Stick. other types will work as long as they are high pressure anti sieze. Basically you are just keeping the tube from rusting in the barrel. Yes stainless tubes will rust.
Strut10
Re: Choke lube? I use a synthetic lube called FP-10. A couple drops seem to work like a charm.
Guest Xen
Re: Choke lube? a nice grease or lube will work very well - generic anti-seize, etc. just take the time to take the choke out every so often and clean off the threads, etc. Cleaning your barrel can let some solvent in around the threads, and break down the lube or anti-seize. you don't have to be too anal, but just pay a little attention to the choke or breech plug - just preventative maintenance really. LETMGROW
Re: Choke lube? I use Gorrila Grease, the same thing I use on my muzzleloader. Most anti-sieze greases are too messy to use. Get some on yourself or your clothing and you will see what I mean.
elnor
Re: Choke lube? I use regular gun oil (Hoppes), same as carbonhunter. I aso clean them and store them in a choke tube case when my guns are in the safe. Haven't had any trouble with them.
terry264
Re: Choke lube? I use those little packets of anti-seize that they sell at the check-out counter at Advance Auto. They are there for spark plug threads etc., going into alum. heads with heli-coils in the plug holes, anyway, without getting too technical, this stuff works good and is only about 50 cents a pack. One pack will treat a lot of chokes, ha.
