Re: Prey Master

Did you buy it new? Should have come with it if you did, might go back and ask. If not, the plugs are simple plugs you could make your own. You could get everything you need from radio shack or an electronics store. The wire is just speaker wire, think it is about 18 gauge.

Thought about extending my wire out an additional 25 feet or so, and might still.

Re: Prey Master

Hello I am new here and was just browsing and when I see something about Preymaster I look at it. I know when I bought mine it only had the 25 foot that is attached to the speaker and you had to purchase another 25 foot extension to make it 50. I have since then made mine wireless and done away with it all. No more winding up thw wire.

You have to upload your pics in a format like jpg or gif to a photo hosting site, like the rt picture post or jesseshunting. Once you have your pic uploaded just copy the image line and paste it in your post here.

Re: Prey Master

Ok here we go. Here is the unit put together.

smallcallerpics012.jpg

Now the guts. We used the Radio Shack Mini Amp (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062620&cp=&sr=1&origkw=Mini+Amplifier&kw=mini+amplifier&parentPage=search). The wireless portion iis actually a guitar wireless system, you can find alot of different ones on ebay, we used a Shure system. The speaker is a Radio Shack Horn Speaker (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2104031&cp=&sr=1&origkw=40-1440&kw=40-1440&parentPage=search).

The batteries are PowerStar DE650-S which you can get at Gander Mountain, these are 6 volts 5Ah. There are also some toggle switches to turn the power on and off the receiver and the amp.

Re: Prey Master

With that out of the way, how to put it together.

We used an old two side Plano Tackle Box to house all of this stuff (need the heighth for the batteries).

smallcallerpics002.jpg

To wire the amp in place you take the output (speaker) from the amp to the speaker. From the receiver of the wireless guitar system you put to the input of the Mini Amp. That is it for the audio side of it.

The power is pretty easy, the Mini Amp has a 9 volt battery in it, we mounted it to the outside for ease of changing. The reciever needs 12 volts, to get the 12 volts out of 2 6 volts batteries you need to put them in series with each other. To put them in series you take the positive from the first battery to the wireless receiver, then take the negative from the first battery to the positive of the second battery. From the negative of the second battery goes to the negative of the wireless system. That is the power.

Oh we used aligator clips to connect the batteries so we can take them out to charge.

Re: Prey Master

Now to the detinator (remote). We added another volume control so we could turn the Prey Master, MP3, or CD player down all the way to off. You don't have to do this.

To wire the remote you come out of the Prey Master, MP3, or CD player into the wireless transmitter and that is it.

If you have any questions please ask and I will try to get them answered for ya.

Re: Prey Master

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner was ice fishing all day yesterday.Yes the speaker that came with it will work, the radio shack power horn has a better, crispier sound to it. All total to build without the mp3 cause I already had it and the Preymaster was around 120.00. You can use the Preymaster alone if you want to and add an mp3 later and that is just a matter of unplugging from top of Preymaster and plugging right into the mp3. The mp3 alot of guys were using was being bought at Tiger Direct for 15.00 and had good luck with them. That depends on how much memory you want and how many sounds you want to put on one. A 1GB or 2GB is plenty, the only thing we are going to change is still trying to find a more compact case to put it all in. We have had it out on 6 sets now all averaging 1hr per set and in some very cold temps wind chills -20 and it worked perfect absolutly no complaints. The batteries to this day still show 12.48 volts and have yet to have to recharge. The 9 volt that powers the amp, We have relaced 1 time so far, it was down to around 7 volts. If I forgot anything just ask me.

Re: Prey Master

wtnhunt, I sent this to you by PM, finally got it to post here for everyone to see. I know it seems kind of confusing but if anyone wants to do the changeover just ask me or better yet my nephew who is a member here also goes by the screen name Chuck78. He is well trained in all aspects of electronics.
