whitetailtrax
Re: shed contest I will take a first crack at some rules and see what folks think. First of all, I think we should keep it simple!!!! Teams: Teams of two will be asigned by Sureshot. When you register, please state on average how many sheds you pick up in a year and the teams will be selected as evenly as possible (one high average and one low average). A new thread will be started for signup, which will be open until March 10. Contest rules: 1. All deer, moose and elk sheds found between January 1, 2007 and May 31, 2007 are eligible. All antlers, even ones you leave in the field are eligible. Photos are not necessary (although encouraged) for an antler to be eligible. This is based on the honor system, so please be honest when submitting your totals. We can keep a running total for each team by submitting weekly totals to Sureshot or whoever is running the contest. 2. Points: One point will be given for each antler found (very simple). A small (5 point) bonus will be given to the team that finds the largest whitetail antler, mule deer antler, elk antler, and moose antler, based on B&C score only (not number of points or anything else). The score will be provided by the team members (please don't lie) and we will want to see a picture for the record. No bonus for matched sets. 3. Photos: Photos of your sheds are encouraged - just because we all love to see them....but they aren't required. The only exception is for largest antler for each species - those we all want to see! No photo contest or bonus points for best photo. Again just be honest about your totals. 4. Prizes: If someone want to offer up something then that's great....otherwise this is for fun and bragging rights only!!!!!!! I'm sure I've missed something, so feel free to add on or comment and we can revise as necessary. My thoughts are to keep it simple and fun!!!! Tom2008
Re: shed contest I will agree with your rules there. Lets not forget to add that no skulls will be allowed. The only thing I do not agree with is no pictures. Thre has to be pictures of the sheds that you submit. You never know when someone might come in and just say they found this many sheds and then you sit there and wonder if they are lying. Otherwise it all seems fine to me. Thanks for starting if off Mark.
toddyboman
Re: shed contest Mark those sound good. The photo for every shed always seems to be an issue. Some want a pic for every shed others don't. I think we need to vote on that maybe after we have our teams established.
Tom2008
Re: shed contest You don't ahve to put one shed in one photo though. You could wait and put all the sheds you found in one photo. Just make sure they are countable.

KANSAN
Re: shed contest Personally, I'd like to see photos of all the sheds found. I like the ideas of the rules stated above. Sureshot and I will be setting the contest up this year, I want to get the contest updated once a week or so........I'll make a banner for the winning team to put into their signature. An official rule post will come soon - patience, young grasshoppers!!

Turkeygirl
Re: shed contest Well I think old sheds you find this year are as eligible as fresh sheds, but I think that was a given last year anyway. Maybe an extra point could be given for like Best As it Lay photo, Smallest Shed, Largest shed, Most Unusual Shed, but a team can only be chosen for one category, no one team winning all of them...just so more teams have a chance for an extra point. And maybe offer up an extra point or points to the most active team, no necessarily in finding sheds but being active in the shed contest (pin up a thread for each team to keep in contact with partners). Maybe that would encourage new people who sign-up to stay active... Just a few thoughts...
Guest TJF
Re: shed contest Rules sound good but a photo of your sheds should be used to qualify them. Even with pictures... people could cheat. The contest is just for fun so cheating shouldn't be a problem anyways. It is just nice to see pictures of people finds and most do it anyways. Nice to see moose and elk added. A shed is a shed and it might get more joining the contest. Tim

I am gonna put down zero sheds this time so you get stuck with me. I need someone to carry me in the contest from the looks of my shed season so far. !!! Turkeygirl
Re: shed contest Sheds before Jan. 1 I think should be counted if they were found like during December, since some start finding them then anyway. I've got like 2 feet of snow on the ground here so I won't be finding any soon, lol.

Guest TJF
Re: shed contest [ QUOTE ] Tim what did the extra J stand for? [/ QUOTE ] Could be Jackel... as in bone scavenger Jumbo... big clumsy person Jughead maybe ??? Maybe jinxed as that explains my shed season so far. Actually it stood for nothing... I couldn't get back in as TJF when I lost my password so I reregistered using TJJF a couple years ago. Apparently if you don't post in a while you must lose your user account here which must have happened this time as I only post in the shed forum on this site and it has been a while ( last spring ). Got lucky and was able to go back to TJF again. Tim

Tim [/ QUOTE ] Hey,not looking for trouble at all.I was auctually thinking of you. Seems to me you and Tyler match those matched sets up better then anyone else I know. Seroius, most matched sets don't lay together so it takes more then one trip to match them up.I feel a little extra credit should be awarded.Either way is cool with me. sasksheds
Re: shed contest Sounds good, but start date should be Dec.1rst. As S.G. said some of us have found bone in Dec.No skulls.I can drive down the highway & find a doz. for every 20 miles of highway here in Sask. Also extra points should be counted for matched sets.We work hard to match up these bad boys.As for pics for every shed?No way,but a group pic of sheds collected would be acceptable.Prizes? We dont need no stinkin prizes. Its just for fun & to share pics & stories.Good luck & thanx for gettin it going!
