Re: Good News Finally

That is good news! Congrats on the beginning of the new home.

I know building contractors have had all the work they've wanted in SW Alabama and S Mississippi for a while. That area has drawn in a lot of contractors from other places including Florida. A friend of mine in Biloxi recently started rebuilding his house that Katrina blew away. Took about 1 year and 4 months to get started building his new house.

Nope, no basement. Don't know of too many folks around here that actually do have a basement. We originally were gonna go with a 1-story but it was too big for our lot. We'd have to cut down too many of the older oaks here.

Re: Good News Finally

The only drawback on my two story Andrea is, bedrooms all upstairs with 2 bathrooms and the laundry room is on the first floor. I should have put a laundry room upstairs and that would have made things much easier.

Congrats on the build and have fun doing it, lots of choices! We spent 6 hours one day looking at light fixtures and still left the place not knowing what to do! smile.gif Enjoy the build, your building your dream home!!

Re: Good News Finally

Well, my kids' bedrooms are the only ones upstairs. They will be responsible for THEIR laundry. May even install a laundry chute, not sure yet. Either that or they can toss it over the loft railing, LOL.. grin.gif NOT!!!
