Swamphunter
O.k. so I need some information from you Sask boys on what lures to purchase for Northern Pike when I arrive for my bear hunt in the spring. I have been told "lipstick jigs", but not sure what you guys refer to as a lipstick jig. I will be fishing in Green lake. Thanks

bulldawg
Re: Recommend a lure The only lipstick jig that I've ever heard about used to be made by Northland tackle. Haven't seen them in several years. I used to use them for walleyes with great success. Dawg
shockwave
Re: Recommend a lure I watched a show a couple of weeks ago, Babe Winkleman was using a rather oversized banjo minnow...
Shaun_300
Re: Recommend a lure I usually use a chrome Big-O when I go pike fishing, if you want to have some fun try topwater. Get a Jitterbug, Zara spook, Pop-R or a Magnum Torpedo. I caught a muskie on a Pop-R last summer, talk about an explosion when it hit that thing! Hoyt03
Re: Recommend a lure Take some white or chartruese spinner baits, some stick baits such as rapalas or smithwicks suspending jerk baits, maybe a few crank baits that will run a few feet below the surface. Make sure you take a few of each cause we all know those toothy critters always take a few back with them.
birddog
Re: Recommend a lure Make sure you put on some heavy line: and a leader, and cast anything at those Sask. Pike and they'll bite Early in the year, you will be into some pigs up on Green that early in the early! If you have trouble finding anything you think you may need, fire me a P.M. I'll find it for you. I am going to be up near there May 26-June 2nd, and I'll be just fishing while some buddies drew bear tags. As soon as I get one on video, I will be fishing all day. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Recommend a lure I've made a couple of trips "up north" for bass fishing and I literally could not keep the northerns away from a spinnerbait with a large willow leaf blade. Color didn't seem to matter much, I mostly threw white or white/chartruese.
Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Recommend a lure ill swear by a shiny, deep-running crankbait, a charteruse spinnerbait, or a large, red-and-white daredevle. in the au sable river here in michigan, i cant seem to keep the pike away from a 1/8 oz black with yellow polka-dotted Panther Martin in-line spinner, and it has a golden blade. i might suggest a bigger size though lol, as i was trout fishing

natethebowhunter
Re: Recommend a lure for pike buzz baits and other top-water baits work very well, also spoons are always a choice for me, for where to go i'd say just go to the shallower areas early in the year but later in the summer go in the deeper waters. also remember to fish by weedy areas, pike love to hang out in there and wait for teir prey.
