Your favorite spring bass bait

Spring time is the primo time for bass fishing around here. With spring on us now I was wondering what some of your favorite baits were for that time of the year.

Mine change a bit depending on what's hot that particular spring but this was the hot lure for me last spring.

A 5" chopstick worm, in junebug color, fished Texas style without a sinker. The bait is heavy enough where you don't need a sinker. Here's what it looks like.

BTW, one warm day last month I fished that bait too. Caught 21 bass in an hour and a half. 7 of those were on the 1st 8 cast. No big fish though.

Re: Your favorite spring bass bait

I love fishing creature baits, (ie-Brush Hogs, Sweet Beavers, etc) in the spring time. Once they start spawning, those big females hate to see creatures headed for their beds. I also love Horny Toads and Tiki Toads in the spring. I fish them all Texas rigged with and without a weight. Last year I started adding rattles to most of my plastics and I had great results. Plus the added weight of a glass rattle helps to get down to the stikezone a little quicker without using a bullet weight. My favorite colors for here in Oklahoma are June Bug, Watermelon, Chartreuse and Pumpkin seed.
