I hurt my wrist this morning and it hasn't gotten any better.I slipped on the ice and my wrist curled forward and has been killing me ever since. It's fairly swollen from the bottom of my thumb all the way across the back, and I cant touch my pinky and thumb together,or hardly hold anything in it.I hate to go to the e.r. for x-rays if it's just a spraign.

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

Nope, but have broken my arm a couple times. Would also suggest getting it checked out, and you dont really have to go to the ER to do that. When my oldest daughter broke her arm just above the wrist last summer, we took her to our family physician at the local medical center, they x rayed it said yep it was broken, and they put it in a cast.

So long as the bones dont need to be set, some general physicians can and will take care of it.

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

Yep been there. Broke my left wrist a few years ago. My wrist swelled up to the size of my hand and everything was locked into place and would not move. Broke the end of the large bone that runs through the forearm in several places. Sounds like yours may be broken get to the doctor and get it taken care of. Good luck hope you get better soon.

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

Broke my right wrist while boxing. I barely even had any swelling. I went to work the next day and couldn't do my job so they sent me out for x-rays and I had broken both bones in my wrist. The doctor said that it looked like a fracture they call the "boxer's fracture". I said hey that's about right since that's how I got it. tongue.gifgrin.gif

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

I have cracked my wrist before, but never broke it. Only broken fingers and toes, luckily. Like the others said get some X-Rays to make sure it's not broken. Better safe than sorry. If it is broken and it heals wrong the only way to fix it then is to rebreak your wrist. I don't think you'll enjoy having to go through these pains all over again when they do that.

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

Well,I went to my doctor yesterday afternoon and the lady that does the x-rays in his office was gone,so he sent me to the hospital for them. They didn't see any fractures so they're calling it spraigned.I've had spraigned ankles before, but they didn't hurt this bad. It's still swollen and slightly bruised,so I guess I'll give it a few days and see if it improves at all.Looks like I won't be shooting DART League this week. crazy.gif

Re: Anybody ever break their wrist??

i broke my growth plate in my wrist last year in a hockey game. went to the doctor after the game. doctor told me that if i hurt it again id have to go into surgery or my wrist wouldnt grow right...

well we had a game the next day and the doctor told me to not play for 6 weeks... so me... i cut the front of the cast off so i could use my fingers. got a big glove for that hand and played the next game... hurt pretty bad but my wrists are the same size to this day so i must not have hurt it any more lol.
