Guest realtrhunter
What is the difference in a 870 youth model and a standard model? Is the only difference the gauge, or is there a difference in the stock. I am trying to find a gun for my girlfriend and I am not sure what model to even consider having her try. brownie65
Re: 870 Youth Model stock is shorter, designed for the younger hunter. Could work great for some female hunters. I shoot my sons sometimes myself. It is to small for me but it is a great gun. I am going to buy him a full size 870 this year & my youngest boy will start shooting the youth 870. It is a great gun
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: 870 Youth Model That youth 870 would make a great gun for a lady ... very light and simple to operate Steve
brownie65
Re: 870 Youth Model OK I just got out my youth 870 & my regular 870 both in 20 gauge. The stock on the youth gun is exactly 1" shorter than the regular 870 stock. The forearms measure exactly the same. The barrel is considerably shorter on the youth gun. I don't know what,if any, barrel length options you can get.

ohiobuckhunter
Re: 870 Youth Model I just got a youth model 20 gauge for my wife she loves it and it fits her so much better considering she is only 4'9" and barely 100 pounds it isn't as hard for her to control
WABS
Re: 870 Youth Model The shorter barrel is important for those with limited upper body strength. I know when my son tries to shoot a gun with a regular length barrel he has a tendancy to lean back in order to counter the weight. With a short barrel his form improves dramatically.
