Re: bull riding

yeah i rode bulls when i use to go down to SIUC, they had a rodeo team but they didnt do much so me and some friends did it in our own interest to ride, we didnt really have clinics, we just had some places here in illinois were you would pay for a day and ride till you were done, and they would give you tips and help on riding, it was a fun time while i did it for 2 years, great sport, just be careful, i was fortunate enough not to get injured in those 2 years

Re: bull riding

Health Insurance won't help you to walk upright without a limp or pick up your kids when you're 30. Seriously good luck, but I've seen too many friends bodies beat to death by riding bulls. I've got a buddy that is 34 years old and he can't even climb on a bike now let alone a bull. Just prepare yourself for a lot of pain. JMHO

Re: bull riding

Yep...

Been there done that...

I started Bull riding back when I was 10 yrs. old.

I road Jr. Rodeo, High School Rodeo, IRA. When I was 23 yrs old I got my RCA card. After riding RCA for 9 months things went down hill from there.

I lost a real good friend of mine due to Bull Riding and after getting hurt pretty bad a few times I wised up and Quit...

Bull Riding is a hard road my friend...

Good Luck...

Griz...

Re: bull riding

I know there is a riding school in either Tahlequah or Muskogee. Also a guy named David Berry in Locust Grove has a lot to do with bulls. He has some of the best bucking bulls in the business. I think he use to coach too... Not sure if he still does or not.

What part of the state are you in?

thats cool. how old were you when you started? and did you do anything for insurance? or did the place you rode at have any kind of

insurence?

[/ QUOTE ]

rode when i was19 and 20, 22 now and i havent rode in 2 years, and no there was no insurance just kinda hoped for the best and not get hurt, and if anyone did youd be using your own medical insurance, like i said we kinda just did it on our own, luckily none of us got hurt, couple headaches here and their, but youll have that, worst thing that happened is my buddy got stepped on by the bull on his back kinda knocked the wind out of him but he was alright, those vest do a lot of good i can say that, but its a great sport, like some of the other guys might call me nuts, waiting on that first ride was kinda scary, but like they say cowboy up, but after your first ride your hooked, you cant wait to get on the next bull

Speaking of those , how do you keep from getting em beat all to oblivion???

Haven't you ever noticed the tight wranglers? grin.gif

Its not what you would imagine. Most of the time you're rocked back on your rear end and it really isn't a factor. I never competed but ive been on a few bulls. With no protection ive never been racked.

Ive also been on my fair share of bucking horses (breaking) and have never had a problem with that.

Re: bull riding

IMHO (in my humble Opinion) you're strapping yourself to 2000lbs of ticked off muscle with a BAD attitude. You're going to want something you know you can count on. There is nothing wrong with looking for used gear but dont cheap out.

You will know if the bull tosses you, you'll know if you let go or make a wrong move, what you dont want to have to worry about is shotty gear. If you're at all serious buy a decent rope. You'll be able to use it for quite some time and it WONT be money down the drain.

Ask any cowboy that enters a ring, cheap gear is a no no. You'll never see a championship roper tieing off to an Abetta Nylon Saddle. Chances are they will be carrying a name like Cook. The same should go for your gear.

Again, JMHO.
