jbeck
Yep, I talked to Jim about getting a few perch. I've never had perch that I know of. He thought I should try to catch my own. We went out to Little Buffalo Lake, and hooked up with these. They didn't last long, I cooked them up last night. I boiled them over Med heat, with a little old bay in the pot, took them out and just dipped them in melted butter. Good snack. LOL
muggs
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) Nice catch. Hope you enjoyed ice fishing while it lasted. Looks like its gone for the year in our area.
Guest Andrea
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) Congrats. Isn't one of those a crappie? I never heard of boiling panfish. We always fry ours. How did you do that anyway? I'm assuming the meat would fall off the bones and make a soup.
jbeck
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) Anrea, I filet the fish then get a slow boil going put the filet in until they just start to break apart then pull them and dip them in butter. it's quick and easy. jbeck
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) I really don't know all the terms, I just set on a chair. Stuck a little wax worm on a tiny jig head and wiggled it about 6 inches off the bottom. Then the little flasher thingy would show a fish coming up to look at it. When the pink spring thingy on the end of the midget rod I was holding went down, I pulled up. LOL I ain't much of an ice fisherman.
Rut-Nut
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) Same Here! Just mainly wondered whether you were jiugging with an ice-rod or using tip-ups. I do both, but more jigging. I tend to use larger lures and catch mostly pickerel and bass. I should probably start trying the smaller jigs to try to get more panfish! John- I grew up in Schaefferstown(lebanon co.)....after I read my reply, I started cracking up!!! How' bout?!
Hoyt03
Re: First Ice Fishing Trip ( Pics) Sounds like your buddy has a vexilar, it's nice to know when something is down there looking at your bait. I dont know how the ice will be with this warm weather we have been having lately, there has to be tons of slush ice up there now.
