Sweet Potatoes for Deer

Re: Sweet Potatoes for Deer

I grew up with some friends whose dad had a potato farm. I remember planting potatos. A hole had to be dug, a treated seed potato planted, the hole covered over. As the plants grew they were hilled, cultivated and sprayed and dusted throughout the season until the potatos were dug up. The yield was on an average of 6-8 per hill.

This seems like a lot of work for feeding deer with a low yield! Personally I think you would have heard about sweet potatos long before this if they were a good food plot.

Would deer dig them up? Probably if there were no other food available. If you want to dig them up, have at it! Been there, Done that!

I'll stick to clover, thank you. smirk.gif
