horst
Late Ml season opens this morning.Had the gun out yesterday making sure the scope was still sighted in right.Screwed around a little and tried the load my kid used during the early season with 75 grains of 777.I was impressed, the gun actually seems to shoot a lot better with the lighter powder load, groups stayed tighter, lot less recoil, and it hits dead on between 140-150 yrds, about 3 times further than ive ever shot a deer with it LOL. Know where theres a real nice 10 pointer nobody ever messed with during shotgun season, gonna try for him to start with i think and see what happens.also got a doe tag for ML and a bow tag left, gonna be a busy 20 days

smallmunster
Re: And Im hunting again The late ML season is statewide, public or private ground. The zones only apply to non-residents, unless you are talking about county specific anterless tags.

horst
Re: And Im hunting again You guys talking about Michigan regulations or iowa regulations?like smallmunster said, its statewide here in iowa unless your non resident, then you gotta pick a zone. Run into a little bad luck already, the guys ground that 10 pointers in we cant hunt this year, his sons home for the holidays and theyre hunting it.on the bright side, they usualy shoot does so theres a good chance the buck will make it through the season. If they tag out early theyll let us in. smallmunster
Re: And Im hunting again For the record I'm talking about Iowa regs since Horst and I are from Iowa. I have no idea about Michigans regs.

carbonhunter
Re: And Im hunting again [ QUOTE ] Yea.. I think it is anterless! I've been hunting the TB Zone near Mio for so many years. No baiting.. no does. Very seldom can we apply for anterless licenses on public land. I think they offered them twice in the last several years. [/ QUOTE ] I think he means iowa....he mentions Mio wich is about 15 miles from where i hunt when im out that way.

DannoBoone1
Re: And Im hunting again Good luck, guys. There's a big ol' boy going through our place every 4-5 days, and I still see his tracks in the snow, so the shotgunners didn't get him (and they REALLY wanted to, BAD!). Gonna give 'em a week to calm down, then will be out. Sounds like the temps will be a little more agreeable, too. T7 - If you were speaking of the Iowa 2004 hunting guide, it isn't totally accurate. I shouldn't have been able to get a land owner permit for 2d Season, as I got a statewide either sex for 1st Season. Was told the rules had been relaxed and to try for it anyway. If the computer refused to spit one out, that rule hadn't been changed -- if it spit one out, that rule had been changed -- it spit one out, and I can get a doe tag if the landowner either sex is filled.
