It was from my ram--I shot that morning, packed him back to camp in 2 trips. Man, I was dog tired & hungry. Cooked it over an open camp fire, stirring the skillet & looking over at those horns !!! coles Posted February 25, 2007 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 Re: Best meal at hunting camp everything tastes better at huntin camp. we used to hunt with a guy that is one of the best dutch oven cookers i have ever seen. one time we were in camp over thanksgiving and he made a fire, burried a turkey, cooked it all day and it was ready for us when we got back from elk huntin. to top it off he made an apple cobbler in a dutch oven and he also made icecream in a dutch oven. he just used dry ice instead of charcoal. it was awesome.
