I need a new blind?

Hey, I know that this blinds have been discussed recently.

The thing is that I have just returned a bad Ameristep blind to the company. The frame rails poked through the bottom and renderred it useless. I only used it twice!!

So here it is: Has anybody had this problem with this or any other Ameristep blind?

I felt it very cumbersome to put up. The first couple of hubs were very difficult for me to "pop" out. Like there was nothing to pull against to extend it. Any suggestions? What was I doing wrong? I know it's supposed to be easy and quick.

They said I could pay the difference for a better blind. For Ameristep, how much would a better blind cost? The G30 I think is around 100 bucks.

I thought the windows were too small is my only complaint. A scent free'ish one sounds nice too. Any suggestions? I'd like one for two people and I bow hunt. But shooting seated is not a big deal to me.

thanks

Re: I need a new blind?

I've got this blind and have had no problems at all. It sets up in less than a miute and I can get it back in it's case in about 2 minutes, faster when I've got help. My dad and I have hunted in it several times and there is plenty room left over.

I have had it for 3 years and apart from a tear where some cows got ahold of it, I've had no problems with it.

Re: I need a new blind?

i have had my ameristep doghouse for about 5 years. have never had any problem with it...easy to carry, easy/quick to set up, the only thing wrong with it is the small tear i put in it with a broadhead. set it up one evening this past gun season, and killed a 7 point out of it the following morning smile.gif

Have been looking at the ameristeps. Thought I had heard that their customer service was pretty good. Planning to get one here before our spring turkey opens up, but have not decided which one just yet. Need something I can also possibly bowhunt from too and that will seat myself and my oldest daughter and have room for a tripod and camera.

William,

If Cindy still works there they indeed have a great customer service. They are affordable blinds and work well.
