M00N
Re: Calling all 870 shooters In my Remington Model 870 SPS-T Camo 20-Gauge I currently shoot Winchester Supreme High Velocity Turkey Loads in 3" #5 shot through a Comp-N-Choke XX-Full Turkey 20-Gauge Choke Tube and it gets the job done out to 30-40 yards just fine. I'm thinking of giving the Nitro H276 Hevi-Shot Turkey Loads in 3" #4x5x7 shot with a Primos Jelly Head .570 20-Gauge Choke Tube a try possibly if I can afford it. The only real way to find out what the best choke/ammo for your gun is, is to buy a couple chokes and a couple different types of ammo and try them until you get a good pattern from your gun. Every gun, even guns of the same make and model, shoot differently from the next. A different choke/ammo combination may perform better on your gun than another gun of the same type. Randy
Re: Calling all 870 shooters I shoot a 26" barrel with a Patternmaster choke Winchester Supreme 3", #5's out to about 45 yards.
Guest deerhntnwithdogs
Re: Calling all 870 shooters I shoot an 11-87 but I shoot a 28" barrel, 3 1/2" #5 Winchester Supremes (BTW Bass Pro has rebates for a free slatek NWTF/Knight and Hale call when 2 boxes of supreme or supreme elites are purchase it doesnt have to be from bass pro thats just where you get the certificate) and a Primos Jelly Head Tube. I just bought the choke this week from Bass Pro were I work in Hampton VA and havent had a chance to pattern it yet goin monday evening to do that after scouting turkey land. I know the stock full choke but 00 Copper Plated buckshot 3 1/2" in a group of 12" last year, at 95 yards I kid you not. I couldnt beleive it. If I ever need to shoot copper shot im in buisiness but it scored the tube enough to let it shoot good for deer but it cant handle the turkey loads anymore so thats why I bought the Jelly Head. Strut10
Re: Calling all 870 shooters My Mrs. shoots an 870 Turkey 21" Comp-N-Choke XXX-Full Winchester Supreme HV #5 I actually think her gun shoulg go one tighter to .655" because it patterns #5's as densely as #6's. Generally, the really short barreled guns will respond well to a tad more constriction than the longer barreled guns. 22" or 23" seems to be the area where that happens. Strut10
Re: Calling all 870 shooters [ QUOTE ] I was shooting Winchester Supreme HV in 31/2 2-6.At 40yrds it only had 41 pelets in a 10" circle. How bad is that? [/ QUOTE ] I'd be pretty happy at twice that number. The Remington "turkey extra full" and "turkey super full" tubes leave a lot to be desired. Born2Hunt
Re: Calling all 870 shooters I agree with Strut. I purchased a Undertaker for Letmgrows 870 and he gets 100 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 40 yds.
