ksbowhntr77
I went to the local gun shop this last Friday to look at a Ruger Sinlge Six in a .22 Mag cylinder that he had. It had a rifle scope and a bi-pod on it, don't ask me why but it did. I asked him if he took off all the "junk" and put Ruger iron sights on it what he would take for it, keep in mind the original price was $325, he said he'd take $200. I took in my old 7x57 Mauser for him to look at for trade potential. He said he'd give me $100 for the rifle. Sooo, I bought a Ruger Single Six with the .22 Mag cylinder w/ a 9-1/2" barrel for $100. Did I do o.k. and what would I have to do later if I wanted to get the .22 LR cylinder???
Hoosierbuck
Re: Ruger Single Six (Did I do O.K.???) To get the LR cylinder all you have to do is send it to Ruger with about $75 and they will fit it and send it back. HB
popgun
Re: Ruger Single Six (Did I do O.K.???) My Gun Parts Corporation Catalog isn't new, but it shows the .22 LR cylinder at $19.20 (Blued) or $35.40 (Stainless). It shouldn't be a problem getting a new cylinder. ....popgun
ksbowhntr77
Re: Ruger Single Six (Did I do O.K.???) Thanks guys, do you think I did alright on my trade??Also, would that revolver be worth more down the road if I went ahead and bought the other cylinder or would it really matter?? I have been told that the older Single Six's in a 9-1/2" barrel are hard to find, this is a newer model but my thoughts are that in time this one will be what the old ones are, (hard to find)/ Any thoughts on that or am I all washed up? Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Ruger Single Six (Did I do O.K.???) You did pretty well. I've got the Single Six with both cylinders in 9.5 inch, and it's deadly accurate with either round out to 100 yards. Think I gave around $300 for it used about 10 years ago. I'm not a single action expert, but I believe that if you want to add a 22 LR cylinder, it will need to be fitted to your handgun's action. You can't use just "any old" Ruger cylinder in it. If I'm wrong on this, I'd love to know so that I could pick up a couple of spare cylinders for mine. BTW - The $300 price included a leather holster and leather belt with shell loops.
