gobblengrunt_jenks
I was just wondering how many of you scatter corn before your up coming turkey season.... I do about a month and a half before the season and during the summer, and i know some of you fellas do by looking at the pics in the picture post.... Do some of you think its a bad thing or good thing...is it baiting or just simply feeding...??
Guest tarbaby
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? I don't do it for turkey or deer. I believe that if you are hunting over the corn pile or using it to to your advantage than it's baiting. If it's not during season and you are just doing it for trail cam pics I would consider it feeding.

Exturkinator
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? I don't do it at any time - they can find food on their own, besides they sleep in trees....
toddyboman
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? I believe that is considered baiting here in MO. Which is illegal.

sportsman2500
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? we scatter corn out for deer and turkeys here but it's illegal to hunt over it. has to be gone 10 days before you casn hunt the area
Rhino
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? To answer your question...Nope. Feeding game is legal here but baiting is not. With the amount of rain we usually get prior to turkey season corn would spoil pretty quickly when just scattered around on the ground to feed them prior to the season. JMO but there's no need to feed turkeys prior to the season in my neck of the woods.
wtnhunt
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? Illegal to bait here, but I have heard of a few guys around here I know who use corn or chicken scratch before season. Dont know for sure if they continue to use it during season or not. Have used corn at my cameras, but never hunt over where the cameras are at when there is corn there or within 10 days of when the last time corn was there. RUTNSTRUT
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? BAITING turkeys would kinda take the fun out of hunting spring gobblers wouldnt it. It is illegal here to bait turkeys, but even if it wasn'tI would never do it. Turkey hunting is about woodsmanship, calling, andscouting, not dumping corn on the ground and just shooting. Sorry if I respond kinda harshly, but I really love turkey hunting, and baiting is not hunting. Come on up to Wisconsin some time and I will take you on a turkey hunt you will never forget, plus it will be bait free.
KYLimbHanger
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? Kinda differnent in KY. A baited site must be cleared of corn for 30 days before someone can legally hunt over it. Highly Illegal! But, hey, we sure can bait in those KY Booners! gitcha_some
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? guys theres a difference between baiting, which is hunting over a corn pile. And feeding before the season, which is scattering corn out in an area to feed turkeys and other animals BEFORE the season starts

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? I supplemental feed the deer year round and the turkeys show up pretty regular for their share. And, while its perfectly legal to hunt over bait, its not at all an effective method in the Spring. Those gobblers only have one thing on their minds this time of year, and it sure ain't corn!
gobblengrunt_jenks
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? Im not saying at all that i bait any of the game i hunt i just feed them.... It's not like i'm hunting oover a corn pile, its Illegal here...But not in the summer or winter... WaCoyote
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? So I guess your saying you feed them prior to the season but not during the season? Seems like a lot of work to me. Also kind of pointless. If it were legal here in WA I'd definately do it for my daughter and my Dad who can't walk any more. I really have no problem with it if it's legal but it would take the fun out of calling and fooling them without bait. I can see how some folks would really have a problem with it but like I said if it's legal I really couldn't care less. There's more turkeys up here than you can shake a stick at. Road hunting turkeys is what turns my stomach. Guys driving around until they see one on the roadside and shooting them off the road takes no skill, no scouting, and no walking. It really bugs me. WIwhitetailhunter
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? [ QUOTE ] baiting turkeys in Wis is illegal [/ QUOTE ] This is the reason one sometimes needs to hunt under a corn tree. Seriously though, I would think you would have to put out a substantial amount for it to be beneficial. Can't really say as Martin said, it is illegal here in WI. Gobblegobblebang
Re: Who scatters corn prior to turkey season?? use your skills not your feeder. That can be hard to say if some one is feeding in the area. If not, use your skills.
