VermontHunter
Dang Oil Barons.... Gas prices here in Vermont never dropped below $2.26 per gallon ,, but yet it just rose a nice crisp 12 cents per gallon in the last couple days ,, making the price $2.39 per gallon and they are projecting even more hikes in the price before it levels off .. Enough is Enough already .....

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: They\'re at it again ... Dang consumers. They keep buying more of the stuff and running up the price. Dang government. They keep raising the taxes on gas. What's it at now? 40, 50, 60 cents a gallon? And think about this. If the price of gasoline had exactly kept pace with inflation during the past 30 years, we would be paying between $2.77 and $3.80 for it now (depending on how you want to measure inflation). stevebeilgard
Re: They\'re at it again ... we grow it here, and pump it here, and i paid 2.39 today. problem is, we're on a world market. we can't buy gas cheaper, because other nations want our same gas, and want to pay a higher price. canada is over 4.oo a gallon. mexico is higher than here. and yes, stock holders in the major oil companies want to make money, too. sorry, but these are the good ole' days. it will only get worse. wtnhunt
Re: They\'re at it again ... Yep, noticed a jump in prices here over the weekend as well. Did find a few stations that had gas at $2.19 on the way to Nashville Saturday though, most I saw on the way back Sunday were up around $2.

I work for an Oil based company and we have been covered up for the past year. The oil business is GOOD business right now. Thats great because I have a job but still made me Cringe when I swiped my check card at the pump this morning to the tune of $50. Just a week ago I got the same amount for $40. It is too bad that we have to be so nice about things in the world today. I am sure that we could get prices lowered with a little take over. But then again, If the government would just put as much money to alternative fuels as they do oil we could all be running our vehicals on water. Chrud
Re: They\'re at it again ... It got down to $2.09 here and is now back up to $2.49. I would guess it will be $2.59 by the end of the week.
Gator
Re: They\'re at it again ... I've seen it from $2.15 to $2.29 this morning. It's winter, and historically, haven't gas prices USUALLY gone up in the winter, due to supply and demand? It just took a littlelonger for them to rise this winter, due to it being so mild for so long. Companies are drilling like crazy here in Ok, Ks, and Tx. I work for an oilfiled service company, and we are busier than ever. I bet that when summer rolls around, gas prices will drop again, at least after Memorial Day weekend. Yup, was paying like $2.22 here @ an Indian Reservation gas station....but it's gone up. at the local gas station in town by the college it's $2.49...but the guy who's owned it has always been a rip-off. They had been dropping pretty steadily the last couple of months, but now...they have spiked and not sure why. They don't usually go up around here until late March early April and sky rocket during May-September.

[/ QUOTE ] There is a guy in Missouri that invented a machine that will turn ANY carbon based material into oil (not crude oil). It is free of gravel and such. It is totally usable. He said if the government would back him we could get rid of ALL landfills in a very short time by turning basically everything into Oil. We would also become 100% independent in that area. He Actually built a plant with the aid of Tyson. He was turning turkey and chicken left overs (intestine, bones, feathers, heads, etc) into Oil. He has PROVEN it works and has a nice plant to boot. Then the government stepped in. They graded his Oil as a #2 and it can only be used as Lamp oil. Then they imposed a tax on him that regardless of what he does the Oil can NOT be sold cheaper. Look it up.... I think he is in Carthage? I watched a special a few years back about it and it was getting HUGE buzz and then the government stepped in.... Another avenue is ethenol.... Why in the heck haven't we looked REALLY hard at that? It is totally 100% doable.....

Shaun_300
Re: They\'re at it again ... It hopped up 5-6 cents per liter here yesterday. When I went to work it was 91.7 and on the way home it was anywhere between 96 and 97 cents. Luckily I found a station where it was still 91.7, the truck was at 1/2 tank but I decided to top it off anyway, considering they're saying it'll be over $1 a liter again soon. To put that in perspective for you folks south of the border, $1/liter is $3.32/gallon US. Anytime you want to trade gas prices, let me know. I wouldn't be surprised to hear some investors in the Shanghai stock market were practicing their sky diving in China today though. That market lost $100 Billion in value in 1 day. Gas price went up from $2.19 to $2.29 during the last 2 days. If you want to blame someone...blame OPEC and the comodities futures traders. They have more control over the price than anyone else.
