Oh, and his Mom! Marry was burried there too..

Idiots. They even said on the news this morning that Jesus was a VERY popular name back then as well as Marry and every other name in that tomb.

Re: Now they found Jesus???

I wouldn't doubt it a bit if they said they had the reamains of Jesus, of course it was a fairly common name at the time as was Mary and Joseph.

As for having the Jesus Christ of Nazereth, that would be a pretty good trick considering that whole assention into heaven thing. wink.gif

Maybe Al Gore will join forces with this producer and help make it a Oscar winning documentary crazy.giffrown.gif

Re: Now they found Jesus???

They are actually saying that it is the tomb of Jesus and Mary Magdalene ( whom he MARRIED) and their SON Judah. First of all, despite the obvious BLASPHEME here.....Jesus' family was from Nazareth, not down in the south where this was found. What a joke. Cameron Crowe better say his prayers.

He was reported to have said that even though these are probably Jesus' bones, it doesn't mean that His spirit didn't ascend into heaven.

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the stone was rolled away, there was NOTHING THERE.

Re: Now they found Jesus???

Jesus bones will never be found on earth as we all know.

This is nothing more than hollyweird effects and a bunch of nonsense to attempt to promote something that I am sure this producer has in the works, that was the very first thing that came to mind when I first started hearing this crap. No question this guy will have to answer for his actions.

Re: Now they found Jesus???

Q: How could it be proven?

A: If you could get DNA samples from the shroud of Turin and compaired them to the bones. Much of the world took the movie and the book as fact and those who are not well studied in the bible could easily be fooled.

If that happens then I would have to say it's a conspiracy.

Here is a really off the wall theory of mine. Take it with a grain of salt (several if you need to)

I think this is a ploy to validate the Da Vinci Code by giving a direct link to the line of David and thus linking a man to be the next King of Isreal and the claim to be the Messiah.

Here are a couple links.

Savior of the World

Prince Charles

More of the same

I know this may a stretch, but what other purpose would there be?

Re: Now they found Jesus???

Well, the Shroud of Turin has already been proven to be a fake, that doesn't mean that people don't still believe it is the burial shroud of Christ. I don't know if this documentary is being put out as fact or not, but I don't find anything wrong with posing theories and such. If you are a strong Christian, then this shouldn't really affect your beliefs.

As far as Jesus being a common name, well, my "Complete Works of Flavius Josephus lists 14 references to the name Jesus, only one of which is referring to Jesus Christ. One thing that must be remebered though, is that Jesus is the Greek translation of Yeshua, which is technically a false translation, because to translate the name Yeshua from Hebrew into English, it would be Joshua. I don't know in what language the name on the box is written, but if it is written in Hebrew, it would read Yeshua, not the letters for Jesus in Greek.

Another thing to remember is that a few years ago, a couple guys claimed that they had found the box containing the bones of James, the brother of Jesus, which proved to be a forgery.

Yikes, no need to get all defensive on me...I was saying, more of a "what if?" type senario.

btw- when I click on the "Savior of the World" link it goes Mario Lopez's Myspace page....just kidding, just kidding. grin.gif

Didn't mean for that to sound defensive. smile.gif

I remember that. and yeah.....no matter what comes of this garbage...it will not sway my faith at all.

Re: Now they found Jesus???

I think this is all part of the falling away of the world and a prelude to the end times.

The only thing in the world that you can do and be considered almost universally wrong is to be a Christian. You can be gay...you were born that way. A drunk...its a disease. A wife beater...a product of your environment. A thief...just surviving. Those things are okay and excused away.

I have seen a shift of late from "I'll believe what I want to believe and you do the same" to "I don't believe that Christian stuff and won't let you do it either". We already lost our ability to pretty much say anything at work about faith. If you do, some queer is going to start a fight with you and proclaim that your faith impeeds on his right to be gay.

All part of the game folks.

DNA from a 2000+ year old body, I think NOT.

James Cameron just sealed his fate at the King of ****. laugh.gif

That sounds familiar...hmmm...oh, I've got it. It's remarkably similar to the way the Christian faith views homosexuals. Real hard scratcher there...

Those "queers" are something else, I'll tell ya. God probably hates them, but I'm sure he's really fond of bigots living south of the Mason-Dixon line. wink.gif

Not that I'm defending this, because I don't believe it to really be the tomb of Christ, but DNA can date back millions or years...let alone thousands. Not sure what your point is Bubba.

Not so sure God hates anyone......except satan, himself. But I do believe He hates certain behaviors........homosexuality being one of them. "Abomination" (Leviticus 18:22) and "deserve to die" (Romans 1:26-32) ar not real ambiguous words. wink.gif

Re: Now they found Jesus???

When are these people going to wake up and realize that there IS no "final resting place" of Jesus? Umm, hello, if he ascended bodily then his body isn't going to be here on earth. (duh)

They can spout out their "proof" until they're blue in the face, but it's not going to shake my faith in the truth.

Re: Now they found Jesus???

[ QUOTE ]

i don't want to sound stupid, and i am not one that can qoute the bible, but if it were jesus' dna, wouldn't it have to match all of us in some way? if you actually believe?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why is that? Jesus was God in bodily form yes, but he was the product of a human birth. If he had any strands of DNA in him, they would be of Mary and her lineage. We are not all descended from the "Line of David." In that respect, if we all had the DNA of Jesus, then wouldn't that mean that we would all be God in some way, which goes against bible teaching. Yes, the bible says that we are made in God's image, but that is not to mean literally in his image, if that were the case, none of us could look at each other, and we are also not perfect, not even close. The only perfect human ever was Jesus, and to compare ourselves to him is even worse blasphemy than what is being proposed in this documentary.
