I'll tell you what, the Lord has been good to me lately, lol. Ok He always is, just more so lately, lol wink.gif I was walking in from doing barn chores tonight, still light out, and my sister's dog barks. I was walking around to the back porch anyway to see if any rabbits were out and down at the bottom of our woods in an open spot in the swampy brushy area is a rabbit1 I think geesh he seems big for that far away confused.gif I go inside, grab 5 shells and the 20 ga. Andy tells me the rabbit just ran part way up the hill. I hike down the hill in our horse pasture, enter the woods, andy yells he just ran up to the top of our hill. I walk up there and find the rabbit's tracks going into a brush pile. I climb unto the brush pile, stomp a few times, my gun ready, and the rabbit comes out! BOOM! I miss....rabbit still in good range..BOOM! the rabbit does a front flip roll in the snow then gets up and keeps going! shocked.gif BOOM! I get another shot off as he enters some brush and turns back down the hill. Well I find his tracks and follow them like 3 feet, stop and about 15 yards down the hill in front of me I see a rabbit lying stretched out in the snow, not dead. If you've ever seen like pet rabbits, if they are hot/tired, they'll stretch out and this is what he did. I put the sight on his head and BOOM! Rabbit down! I go get him and oh my goodness, the biggest darn Cottontail I've ever seen or gotten! No wonder he looked big about 100 yards away in our woods....he is big! So below is a photo...hopefully you can see he is pretty nice sized and in my opinion, big. Rabbits I've gotten before are usually maybe 1/4 smaller. Enjoy! grin.gif
