AJ
Re: beretta or benelli for trap/sporting clays? Do you plan to shoot competitive trap or sporting clays? If you want to shoot trap, get a trap gun. I have shot competitive trap with my sporting clays gun and I have won a few but a trap gun will be your best bet. It has a parallel stock and usually has a higher POI than other shotguns so the shooter can see the target all the time. Out of the two you have listed, I wold not choose a Benelli. I would want the gas operated semi over the recoil operated one. It will reduce recoil. You may say that target loads do not kick much anyway, but if you ever get in some of the marathon shoots, you will be sore. I have shot 1000 registered targets in one day. They do hurt after a while. The Beretta is a popular gun in sporting clays and skeet shooters. Another drawback to the semi auto is you will need a shell deflector. I have not seen them for the Benelli guns. WHen you start to shoot competitively, you can be kicked off the line for spraying your empties over the guy to your right. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: beretta or benelli for trap/sporting clays? Plus at most clubs, the empty becomes the property of the club when it hits the ground. No shell picking at the shoots I went to. CB
coles
Re: beretta or benelli for trap/sporting clays? thats interesting. at our trap grounds you can pickup whatever you want to. most guys keep theirs but some dont. i wasnt having a problem with that last weekend anyways. the low brass shells either didnt have enough ummph to open the action all the way or it was dirty. it wouldnt eject the shell. the action would open but not far enough to eject the shell and i had to open it myself. i also used to shoot a remington 1100 20 ga. and i had to get a shell catcher cuz it threw the empties a mile!!!!!! WaCoyote
Re: beretta or benelli for trap/sporting clays? Beretta. Serious shooters almost always seem to pick the Beretta. AJ nailed it.
