Re: Win SX2 choke tube

I use a SX2 (26 in barrell) for turkey hunting - I use a Primos jellyhead with 3 1/2" Winchester extended range #5 (initially used Rem Hevishot when I first got the gun, but found far better patterns with Win extended)... I absolutely love it.

Strut10 also hunts with an SX2 - he'll stop in here and tell you his combination soon I suspect...

I don't shoot a Win., but I do shoot a Comp-n-Choke and I have been nothing but pleased with it's performance. Check out there web site, they recommend which choke to use, depending on the shot size you perfer. I use their XX-Full and Win. Supreme #4 (heavy hitting at added distance) and was treated to the Win. Extended Range #5 the last 2 years, they shot well out of the choke tube also. These choke tubes have a rifle like pattern at close range (0-15 yards), so make sure you pattern you gun before opening day. Good hunting and "Shoot'em in the head'

All guns will shoot differently. I suggest you go to the NWTF site and check the shotgun section. Type in your gun in the search box and read what others have tried. This site is a wealth of info. It will give you a start point. Enjoy!

Great advice there! I used to shoot a Browning Gold which is the same gun. I shot a Mad Max .670 tube with Remington 3" hevi shot 6. This was a very deadly combo. As I'm sure you know, your gun is back bored which means the inside diameter of the barrel is larger than the normal 12 gauge bore. As a rule of thumb, back bored guns don't require as much constriction in the choke. Having said that, a Browning BPS with a .640 choke has been used to win the NWTF still target competition in the past.
