Re: Homemade Lighted Nock video

Gander Mountain has the Thill and Beacon lights. I used the Beacon cause they were brighter but I have to tell you guys this was super easy to do and took me all of 10 minutes to do 3 nocks and they look great. You don't actually have to even drill them. They still light up you just don't see them as bright from the back.

Yep use Loctite superglue gel. Push it in and let sit for 30 second or so and it is good to goe.

Got them at Gander and did the same here with gluing. Video explains it all and they work as good (in fact better) than the Factory Name Brands I paid close to $10 a piece for and have to wiggle to make them go on or off.

I used the thill lights but had to wiggle them too..

But for the money homemade is the way to go

Maybe had some bad connects or something??

My homemades work great, it's the factory made expensive ones I always find myself fiddling with and wiggling on/off.

Re: Homemade Lighted Nock video

I have been interested in hi viz arrows for years. Thats why I use reflective tape for wraps and neon vanes. I hate to loose an arrow.

I tried the Lumenoks once and they were crap IMHO. Could not get them to light 1/2 the time nor even to stay in the shaft upon impact.

I sent them back for a full refund so I will not bash the company. I just feel they were poorly designed.

I was interested in the Tracer brand but hear they are way heavy.

This looks like something I may have to try this summer.

Anyone weight a a completed home brew lighted nock yet?

Re: Homemade Lighted Nock video

I got BEMANS hit max-4's with the X-noks which are smaller in Diameter than other noks, i had a heck of a time getting the light to fit in them. Probably because I am stuck at college and am making due with crap tools, but I am going to give them another go this summer. If you can get them to hold they will work better than Lumenoks.

Re: Homemade Lighted Nock video

Please read! Making one of these nocks wrong could get you hurt!

Be very careful if you are drilling nocks to assemble these. The nock is your only connection between arrow and bowstring. If the nock breaks after you release the arrow, it's as bad as a dry fire!!! I've only had one nock break on me in 20yrs. The experience is permanently etched in my mind. So trust me that's something you want to avoid. I was extremely lucky in that case but it did scare the heck out of me and gave me a good forearm raspberry. The raspberry was a mixed blessing, the bowstring catching my forearm probably provided enough resistance to protect the limbs. It took three weeks to heal (yeah it was bad). This video shows the guy drilling completely through the nock. Purposely weakening the nock where it needs to be strongest. That gave me shivers!!! It's simply NOT a good idea to weaken your nocks!!!
