Ohiobucks
...slow at home. It seems my DSL connection through Earthlink is slower than dial up now. I ran AdAware and all those programs, no difference. I ran the speed test from Earthlink, it says my connection upload is 28 times faster than 56k, and the download is 11 times faster than 56k (or vice-versa). I deleted the internet connection setup and set up a new one, with all the "correct" settings and it still makes no difference. I can't figure out why it is soooo slow now. I called tech support last night, went through the automated system only to find out it was going to be approx. 20 minutes before I could talk to a person. Any suggestions? Jeramie
Re: My.....internet.....is....soooooo..... Is it your hardware? How long have you had the hub? If they aren't having technical troubles I would bet on hardware.
Guest Andrea
Re: My.....internet.....is....soooooo..... You aren't the only one Tom. Last night my internet acted like dial-up. It was taking FOREVER to even flip between pages on RT. Seems okay this morning.
wtnhunt
Re: My.....internet.....is....soooooo..... Tom, I recently picked up some software from avanquest called "fixit utilities 7 professional". I had some registry issues that had this machine slowed down some. It cleaned them and fixed some other issues as well and has it back to running like when it was brand new. Now if only bellsouth would hurry up and get our dsl setup, things would be much faster, supposed to be coming available to us in April FINALLY. Have always been on dial up here, and I did not realize just how slow this machine had gotten, was pretty amazing the difference after installing and running these utilities. Tominator
Re: My.....internet.....is....soooooo..... Same thing happened to me Tom. Have done a few things like wipe out the settings, defragged, thanks to NRA I ran 3 spyware programs, deleted temp. internet files, did the online speed test with Embarq--everything short of taking the computer to the Geek Squad or tossing it out on the lawn. Heather got it going a bit faster, but it's still not where it used to be. I think it has something to do with the router or ethernet card/cable. Something, just not sure what though. wtnhunt
Re: My.....internet.....is....soooooo..... Oh yeah, this software I am suggesting Tom, does have spyware removal and an antivirus program all together in this one program. Wal Mart carries the software in two versions, the one I picked up was $29.99. The other was $39.99 and had more utilities. Would strongly recommend this software.
