Re: Another Bush Funny

I'll touch on a couple things regarding this post.

You guys knew you could count on me right?? grin.gif

First off, I thought it was funny based simply on Bush being made up to look like Darth Maul or whichever Darth he was from the first(new) Star Wars.

Second, in the 3+ years I have graced these forums with my presence grin.gif I've noticed that when a pic is put up making fun of Bush, it doesn't typically get many responses, but throw a Democrat on there, and it's record breaking responses. I'm not offended mind you, I think looking at pics of any politician made to look stupid is funny, considering most politicians do enough to make themselves look stupid anyways. tongue.gif

Finally, and I know you guys were looking forward to this the most, but, since most of us on here tend to follow politics fairly closely on here (come to think of it, I should be studying for my test in my Parties and Interest Groups class tomorrow), then we all should know that one of the main arguments posed by liberals is that W has undermined the Bill of Rights on any number of issues. My personal favorite is the whole "government eavesdropping" thing. You know, the one where W authorized wiretaps on US citizens on the possibility that they might be terrorists, which, depending on how one perceives it, could be construed to be a violation of unwarranted search and seizure, or invasion of privacy; or, one could argue that using federal dollars to fund religious organizations could be a violation of the separation of church and state. It's all a matter of perception.

Like I said, you guys knew you could count on me huh?? grin.gif

Re: Another Bush Funny

Eavesdropping on US citizens? Just because a person is a US citizen doesn't mean they can't be a terrorist. How many have been arrested for engaging in terrorist activities or supporting terrorists? More than should have been if they were true US citizens.

Invasion of privacy? Listen to my phone calls all you - or the government - want to. I have nothing to hide.

The government doesn't have enough time or resource to listen to the calls of the average LAW-ABIDING citizen. If they are on the government's radar they need to be listened to.

If you're going to single out evesdropping then I think we need to have a few more Presidents up there also. Clinton and Carter can play 3CPO and R2D2 and Nixon can play Obey Wan?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why stop there? GHW Bush could be the Emperor, I think Reagan would play a better Obi Wan IMHO, and how about Cheney as Darth Vader? grin.gifgrin.gif

While I may not have anything illegal to say, I surely don't want anyone from the government hearing my late night conversations with my fiance, or how about when you order something over the phone with a credit card number, or give out your SSN over the phone, or bank account number, etc. etc. Think about what you talk on the phone with people about and think to yourself if you really, really, want some government pinhead listening in.

Re: Another Bush Funny

If a federal pinhead is listening to my conversation with my wife, I really honestly could care less. As far as them getting my credit card or other personal info, they are likely already able to get my social if they are in a position to be in high level security clearance anyways, so what it is the big deal there?
