Guest deadeye270
Re: TURKEY TEAM #1 hunted two full days during the first week in SC. Totally unresponsive, very little talking on the roost or the ground. Seen a few, and I'll get one before it over.

okiedog
Re: TURKEY TEAM #1 Well I spent my 1st day after them, and went bust. It turned off really cold here, mornings are around 33 degs. I'am off tomorrow so I'll be back in the woods. Gonna lighten my load, and cover some more ground.

okiedog
Re: TURKEY TEAM #1 well, this weekend was a bust. Birds around here are not being too vocal once they hit the ground. Think we are headed off to another area this weekend and camp out for a few days and try the birds there. I did call up a 5-6" beard bird yesterday morning, but not quit what I'am looking for. struttinhoyt
Re: TURKEY TEAM #1 Well I have yet to be out yet..... Primarily b/c of the cold front we got..... So Im saving my days off from work for when I know its good...... Should start to pick up dramaticly the next week or so...... My boss went this morning and got a 10 and 3/4 inch beard bird...... 1 inch spurs....... Was a pretty good one......

slughunter
Passed up 5 jakes today at 20 yards, There was a big tom in the woods 150 yards away and I thought he would come out to the decoys but he never did. Gonna be going out friday, saturday, and sunday morning. -shane
Washi
Went out Monday for first day of the season. The weather was still a little cool but getting better after this recent cold snap. There were all kinds of birds gobbling on the roost but when they hit the ground only one or two gobbled even a little. One was pretty vocal very early and then just quit. He may have hit a fence. The other one gobbled about four times in a three hour period, hung up on a fence, and then a dog chased him away. I'll be back out Saturday and Sunday. struttinhoyt
Finally got to get out and do a little huntin today...... A slight touch of wind but other then that it was great weather conditions....... Got to one spot at about 5 mins after daylight hit the call..... had 3 birds fire it off..... So I headed in that direction I stoped a couple times to pinpoint their location..... Walked about a 1/2 a mile hit the call again and he fires it up.... I was thinkin positive...... I was like heck yea Ima get a bird and be back at the house by 730 for some breakfast....... Then got to listening..... Our worst enemy "Mrs. Hen" decides she wants in on the action and steals my bird away from me, He never spoke a word after she got involved..... But its a part of the game...... the other 2 birds were quite a ways off....... So I figured Id goto another spot...... Got one to gobble there but he was a real long ways away...... while hitting different spot and what not and on the drive to and from the woods..... I counted 22 deer and a coyote....... I had an intrestiing day.......
slughunter
I got a double this morning, the bigger of the 2 toms is a 24 pound, 10.5 inch beard with 1 inch spurs. I will have him entered in the next couple of days. The story is in the turkey hunting room. -shane

okiedog
Way to go Slug! Glad someone is picking up my slack. I shot a bird last weekend but didn't get all the needed pics. So I can not submit it, and it wouldn't be fair.
