lil hunter
my season starts wednesday. I won't get to hunt until either saturday or sunday. It's a long drive, and gas is expensive, so I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna drive myself out there on saturday, since my dad will probably be working. I should get at least 2 days of hunting in this weekend though, because I also have Monday off of school. Good luck guys

lil hunter
I got out for the first time this morning. Saw quite a few birds, but never had one within range. Came very close stalking a nice strutter, if I woulda been 2 minutes quicker he woulda died. I saw him and a couple others at a corner of a big field, walking slowly towards where me and my dad both shot our only turkeys so far. But at the same time, there were a few hens about 40 yards from me, so I stayed there for a couple minutes to see if there were any toms with the hens, unfortunately there wasn't. If I woulda went ahead and tried to sneak over to pick off that other gobbler, I'm 99% sure I would have gotten him. About another 10 steps and he woulda been mine. Anyways, they did gobble a fair amount this morning. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same. Can't wait to get back out there.

PAstringking
i went out opening day and got in a little to late. couldnt set-up where i wanted. this ruined my morning. while glassing this same field later in the morning i was suprised by 4 toms. pulled the shot gun up and took a shot. was a little bit further then i expected. oopppps. oh well. i will be back at them on the 17th of May and i will be there early. gotta get some points
PA_Spike_King
Well our opener this past Saturday was a blast with my Dad and I calling to 4 different gobblers and having loads of hens calling also. But with the weather being crappy this spring I think the gobblers are hened up yet so I have nothing to show for our opener. I will not get out till Saturday and I'm off work all next week so I pray we will hammer a couple next week. Goog luck to the rest of you. lil hunter
I still haven't gotten a bird. Had a shot at a pair of jakes yesturday. It was about a 40-45 yard shot, and I still have next weekend to hunt, so I didn't take it. Next weekend, I will shoot a jake if the oppurtunity arises. Hopefully I will get a chance at a tom first though. I have had several close calls this year though.

PA_Spike_King
Well it looks like the turkeys are not working the way we want. Other years like this one I would be done but this year they just won't cooperate. So no up till now. Got very close this morning and we have another plan for tomarrow. lil hunter
I finally had some success! This morning started out terrible. Walking a few hundred yards through the woods, trying to get to my spot, I jumped at least a dozen birds off of the roost. I pretty much thought my hunt was ruined. But later on, I spotted a nice tom out in the middle of the field. Gave him a few yelps, and then some clucks. Then I just sat the call down. About 10 minutes later, he was almost running to get to my decoys, busted him at 25 yards. He weighed 24 pounds. Had about 1" spurs, and the beard was about 10-10/2 inches, i'm gonna have to measure it again, because it somehow grew a half inch between the first and second times I measured it.haha. I will try to get pictures up soon.
