Sounds good there, Kat. Just did the score on my bird-----57. He was one of the heaviest Merriams I've taken here in Colorado. He actually had some fat on him.

Well I hope my decision this morning does not come around to bit me in the butt later....

I had a nice gobbler at 10 ft (YES FEET!!) this morning but I elected to pass. Not real sure why I did but I was really enjoying the moment. He was doing everything right. Well kinda he came in from behind me so I could not see him just hear him gobbling, drumming it was awesome. Then he came beside me at 10 ft. Could have shoot but that might have been ugly. Anyways he is sleeping in a tree right now guess we will have to see what the rest of the season brings....

Why Why Why

Well the other morning I passed on another bird a Jake no biggie. But I had a bird working good down in the woods but he would never come out to the field. I figured he had hens with him so I left to go to work.

I went back to that spot the next morning same deal bird was in the woods with what I assume a bunch of hens cause he is not coming out.

So this morning I decide I'm going to get right down in there with them. This is something I generally dont do because seems to never fail but BIRDS GET SPOOKED!!!

Well ol Tom is screaming this morning as he has been for the last several mornings. And now that him and I have had several battles I have decided I really want this bird.

So he is screaming and I go forth with my plan to get right down in the woods with them. BAD MOVE. A couple hens get spooked off the roost. Ol Tom shuts up never to say another word. When he flies down he head the direction of his hens. Im so mad at myself... I called a little bit but decided I had already done to much damage so I moved on the another spot. No luck there so on to work.

Oh this weekend the game is on. Him and I are going toe to spur.;):D

Well thanks for letting me vent.:)

Hey guys!!! Well today was the first day of kids turkey in Pennsylvania and so my daddy and I went out and went hunting for some tukeys. We had roosted a turkey the night before so this morning we went to were it was. We got in the woods at about 5:30 and waited for about 20 miuntes and the turkey that we had roosted the night before started to gobble, also 3 more. So my dad called back one time. All the turkeys called back. Then the turkey that we roosted the night before about 10 minutes later came down out of the tree and landed to our right. I pulled my hammer back and as it walked right in front of us about 20 yards I fired and I MISSED!!! I was very flustered by that because I am usually a very good shot when it comes to hunting. So I shook it off and put another shell in my gun. About 3 minutes later another turkey came down about 25 yards in front of me and was walking away from me so I once again pulled back my hammer and shot I MISSED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad: By this time I was so dissapointed it is beyond belief!!!!! So then we packed up and moved to another place for about an hour were we heard nothing and saw nothing. So then my dad said we should go back to were we came from so about 50 yards from the field we heard a gobble. We sat down at the nearest tree and called for about 30 minutes and it would not come and it was my brothers turn to go out so we packed up and went home. SO SORRY YOU GUYS!!!!!! I am so embarassed to tell this story it is not even funny!:o Maybe next weekend???????

Not good...

I shot a bird this morning. Knocked him flat on the ground. As I jumped up to go get him, so did he.:(

He floped to his feet ran a bit and took off flying.

I posted a small story in the turkey room too if you want to know more. Its not a happy ending. Just a hunter without a bird.:(

Guess I will see what tomorrow morning brings.

Guess I'll read the story. What size shot ? And how far away was he? Let's hope he'll survive-------He'll be REALLY hard to call in again.

Don't beat yourself up over it-----it's part of hunting. CB
